CBS is reporting that some in the Obama Administration have been understating the threat from the Islamic State:

Flash Points: Why the possibility of altered ISIS intelligence reports is alarming

September 10, 2015, 5:05 PM|CBS News Senior National Security Analyst Juan Zarate and CBS News Homeland Security Correspondent Jeff Pegues talk about reports that senior officials are trying to put a positive spin on the fight against ISIS.

The above report says there is a possibility of data manipulation by the Obama Administration for political purposes.  CBS News Senior National Security Analyst Juan Zarate says that this could be a major problem.  He also said perhaps the problem is how some in the Obama Administration are instead misinterpreting the data, which also is not good.

That complaint was supported by 50 other analysts, some of whom have complained about politicizing of intelligence reports for months. That’s according to 11 individuals who are knowledgeable about the details of the report and who spoke to The Daily Beast on condition of anonymity.

This understating of the Islamic State seemingly has been the policy of the Obama Administration from the beginning.  President Obama himself dismissed the group as an issue a few months before it rose up in prominence.

But pretending that it is not a problem does not change the facts. ... Read full article
