The General Assembly of the United Nations voted for a two-state solution for Palestine and Israel:

UN General Assembly votes to back two-state solution for Israel and Palestine

13 September 2025

The United Nations General Assembly overwhemingly backed a nonbinding solution on Friday supporting a two-state solution for Israel and Palestine, hours after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected the idea of a Palestinian state.

Out of the 193-member world body, 142 countries voted in favour on the New York Declaration, 10 against and 12 abstained.

The resolution, presented by France and Saudi Arabia, envisions the Palestinian Authority (PA) governing and in control of all Palestinian territory, with a transitional administrative committee immediately established after a ceasefire in Gaza.

“Hamas must end its rule in Gaza and hand over its weapons to the Palestinian Authority,” the declaration says, adding that it must also free all hostages.

It also suggests the deployment of a UN-backed mission to protect Palestinian civilians and provide safety guarantees for both Palestinian and Israel civilians, support the peaceful transfer of governing to the PA and monitor the ceasefire and a future peace agreement. …

The Palestinian UN ambassador, Riyah Mansour, said the majority support for the resolution indicates “the yearning of almost everyone, the international community, to open the door for the option of peace.”

Without naming Israel, he said, “We invite a party that is still pushing the option of war and destruction, and attempts to eliminate the Palestinian people and steal their land, to listen to the sound of reason, to the sound of the logic of dealing with this issue peacefully, and for the overwhelming message that has resonated in this General Assembly today.”

Israel rejected the resolution on Friday, claiming it only benefits Hamas.

“This one-sided declaration will not be remembered as a step toward peace, only as another hollow gesture that weakens this assembly’s credibility,” Israel’s UN Ambassador Danny Danon said. https://www.euronews.com/2025/09/13/un-general-assembly-votes-to-back-two-state-solution-for-israel-and-palestine

Presented by France and Saudi Arabia, the seven-page document calls for “collective action to end the war in Gaza, to achieve a just, peaceful and lasting settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict based on the effective implementation of the Two-State solution”.

It also orders Palestinian group Hamas, which runs the government in Gaza, to “free all hostages”, stipulating that it must “end its rule in Gaza and hand over its weapons to the Palestinian Authority … in line with the objective of a sovereign and independent Palestinian State”.

Palestine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed Saudi-French efforts to create an “actionable plan” towards a two-state solution. The ministry also called for “activating all mechanisms to end the Israeli colonial occupation” and “achieve the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people”.

Attempt to ‘take negotiation process forward’

The UN’s ringing endorsement of the two-state solution came amid Israel’s continued bombardment of Gaza, one day after Netanyahu signed off on a settlement expansion plan in the occupied West Bank that would make any future Palestinian state virtually impossible.

Reporting from New York, Al Jazeera’s Kristen Saloomey said that the vote showed “an incredible amount of pushback from the international community”.

“This shows mounting concern over a lack of progress on … talks, and an attempt by the international community to take the negotiation process forward,” she said.

The vote precedes an upcoming UN summit co-chaired by Riyadh and Paris on September 22 in New York, in which French President Emmanuel Macron and several other leaders have promised to formally recognise the Palestinian state.

While 146 members of the UN already back a Palestinian state, another 10 or so, including France, Norway, Spain, Ireland and the United Kingdom are expected to join their ranks later this month. https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2025/9/12/un-general-assembly-backs-two-state-solution-for-israel-and-palestine

Palestinian Authority President Abbas, before the vote, expressed his pleasure that this vote was coming for two-states (see also France plans to endorse ‘two-state solution’ — Palestinian President Abbas pleased, but USA objects).

President Abbas, during the first Trump Administration, said he wanted European involvement in resolving the situation in that region (see Trump Administration delays revealing peace plan; PA President Abbas wants Europe to mediate peace deal).

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that there would not be a Palestinian state:

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has officially moved forward with a settlement expansion plan in the occupied West Bank that would make any future Palestinian state virtually impossible.

The Israeli leader signed an agreement on Thursday to move ahead with the project, which would bisect the West Bank.

“We are going to fulfil our promise that there will be no Palestinian state. This place belongs to us,” Netanyahu said at the event in Maale Adumim, an Israeli settlement just east of Jerusalem. https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2025/9/11/israels-netanyahu-says-there-will-be-no-palestinian-state

And then today:

September 13, 2025

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has firmly rejected the idea of Palestinian statehood at a moment it is being pushed in the UN General Assembly, declaring, “There will be no Palestinian state – this land belongs to us. https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/no-palestinian-state-place-ours-netanyahu-rejects-un-two-state-recognition

Benjamin Netanyahu is in error regarding a Palestinian state.

That said, earlier this Summer, Michael Snyder posted about his concerns about this:

Something REALLY BIG Just Happened At The UN, And It Appears That “The New York Declaration” Could Potentially Change Everything

We are literally witnessing the biggest international push for recognition of a Palestinian state that we have ever witnessed.  The “International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution” ended on Wednesday, and it produced a blueprint for peace in the Middle East called “the New York Declaration”.  The following information about “the New York Declaration” comes from the official UN website

The High-level International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution took place in New York from 28 to 30 July.

The United States and Israel did not participate.

France and Saudi Arabia, co-chairs of the conference, called on all UN Member States to support a declaration urging collective action to end the war in Gaza and to achieve a just, peaceful and lasting settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The New York Declaration on the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution outlines political, humanitarian and security steps to be taken on a timebound and irreversible basis.

The co-chairs urged countries to endorse the declaration by the end of the 79th session of the General Assembly, in early September, should they so wish.

Ending the war in Gaza is just the first step in the plan.

Once that occurs, the goal is to transfer control of Gaza to the Palestinian Authority and then have as many nations as possible officially recognize a Palestinian state. …

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has explained that President Trump believes that international recognition of a Palestinian state before the war has concluded would be “rewarding Hamas”

Press secretary Karoline Leavitt notes, emphatically, that the president disagrees with the leaders of the UK, France, and Canada and their decision to recognise Palestinian statehood if Israel fails to agree to a ceasefire in the coming months.

“He feels as though that’s rewarding Hamas at a time where Hamas is the true impediment to a cease fire into the release of all of the hostages,” she said.

But once the war is over, the Trump administration is very open to making recognition of a Palestinian state part of a comprehensive Middle East peace deal. …

The bottom line is that a Palestinian state is coming.

And once we get to that point, everything will change. 07/31/25 https://endoftheamericandream.com/something-really-big-just-happened-at-the-un-and-it-appears-that-the-new-york-declaration-could-potentially-change-everything/

Yes, a type of Palestinian state is coming.

Even the so-called ‘deal of the century’ from the first Trump Administration essentially was a supporting proposal for that (watch also Trump’s Deal of the Century and Daniel 9 27?).

The reality is that Palestinian Authority has issues with the USA and specifically does not trust the Trump Administration. The recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and the moving of the US embassy to Jerusalem brought Palestinian condemnation as well as statements against trusting the US to broker a peace deal in the first Trump Administration.

Although many in Israel claim “Jerusalem is its eternal, undivided capital” (http://www.cbn.com/cbnnews/insideisrael/2013/November/Will-Jerusalem-Be-Divided-Again/), the Bible shows that Jerusalem will be divided (Zechariah 14:1-2).

The Bible also shows that the time will come when there will be a temporary ‘peace deal’ (see the article The ‘Peace Deal’ of Daniel 9:27)–this will lead to many things, including what, for a time, could be called a “two-state solution.”

The Bible teaches that a European leader will be involved in confirming the coming prophesied deal of Daniel 9:26-27, which states:

26 And the people of the prince who is to come Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end of it shall be with a flood, And till the end of the war desolations are determined. 27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; But in the middle of the week He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate, Even until the consummation, which is determined, Is poured out on the desolate (Daniel 9:26-27).

The “prince” is a European leader who is later called the King of the North in Daniel 11:40. I have long contended that the deal of Daniel 9:27 will lead to the final 7 year countdown to the return of Jesus.

The ‘one week’ of Daniel 9:27 has generally been understood by prophecy watchers to mean a seven year deal, that is broken in the middle of it (after 3 1/2 years). This breaking of the deal is also confirmed in the following scripture:

31 And forces shall be mustered by him, and they shall defile the sanctuary fortress; then they shall take away the daily sacrifices, and place there the abomination of desolation. (Daniel 11:31)

The “him” is the European King of the North.

With various ones wanting some part of Middle East peace deal, Europeans wanting to be involved, and Palestinians wanting Europe involved, we are seeing steps on the world scene that are aligning with properly understood biblical prophecies.
