Obama seems to have secured enough Senate votes to get his Iranian deal 'veto-proof'

After another senator says she will vote in favor of it, US President Obama looks like he will get his nuclear deal:

CAPITOL HILL —A U.S. senator’s announcement that she will vote for the international agreement to restrict Iran’s nuclear program gave President Barack Obama a major foreign-policy victory Wednesday.

Senator Barbara Mikulski of Maryland, a Democrat, was the 34th member of the Senate to pledge her support for the deal when it comes up for a vote in the US. Congress – - enough to assure that Obama will prevail in the administration’s effort to complete action on the landmark nuclear agreement.

While it is true in this age that no governmental deal is likely to be perfect, this particular one is bad.  Ignoring what it does not cover, the reality is that Iran keeps saying that it will only voluntarily comply as it wants to (see Iran’s President supports deal, but does not want his pariliament to make it a ‘legal obligation.’ Is Barack Obama’s role in this consistent with prophecy?).

Iran gambled that the West wanted a deal so badly that it would make a deal closer to what Iran wanted–and it has. It acts like the West has little choice and that it can devastate the USA (c.f. Iranian leader’s tweet shows gun at Barack Obama’s head).  But Iran would not fare well with a real all out war with the USA.
