The BRICS 2025 Summit is going on in Brazil, and while many of the nations there do not want to provoke US President Donald Trump (see BRICS summit in Brazil trying not to provoke Donald Trump), he has long had issues with the BRICS+ alliance.
Furthermore, Donald Trump has now issued new tariff threats against those who align with BRICS:
Trump Threatens Extra 10 Percent Tariff on ‘Anti-American’ BRICS
July 7, 2025
President Donald Trump said the U.S. will impose an additional 10% tariff on any countries aligning themselves with the “Anti-American policies” of the BRICS group of developing nations, whose leaders kicked off a summit in Brazil on Sunday.
With forums such as the G7 and G20 groups of major economies hamstrung by divisions and the disruptive “America First” approach of the U.S. president, the BRICS is presenting itself as a haven for multilateral diplomacy amid violent conflicts and trade wars.
In a joint statement from the opening of the BRICS summit in Rio de Janeiro released on Sunday afternoon, the group warned the rise in tariffs threatened global trade, continuing its veiled criticism of Trump’s tariff policies.
Yes, the BRICS+ alliance has objectives that the USA does not like–nor does it care for USA tariffs.

Donald Trump’s foreign policy statements have unsettled many—in the USA as well as foreign nations. …
Donald Trump’s tariff and other economic policies are getting the Gentile nations of Europe, Latin America, Africa, and Asia to look to trade more with each other. An unintended consequence of his rhetoric and policies is that they are encouraging the end-time rise of the final time of the Gentiles. …
Trade
Historically, Donald Trump has called for “fair trade” and indicated that various nations, including several in Asia, are not engaged in fair trade, so he has proposed high tariffs.[i]
Donald Trump has called tariffs, “the most beautiful word in the dictionary” and even proposed massive tariffs (up to 2000%) on Mexico if it will not do what he wants.[ii] He has basically also proposed a minimum of 10% tariffs on goods from much of the rest of the world.
Some believe that Donald Trump’s positions on trade will lead to a global trade war.[iii] Europe has said it will hit back against Donald Trump’s tariff policies.[iv] It is my position that trade disputes will be a factor in Europe taking military action against the USA one day.
One of the unintended consequences of Donald Trump’s threats of tariffs and other trade matters is that it is motivating nations he has threatened to look to trade more with each other.
The morning after his reelection, I wrote:
According to the major media, Donald Trump won re-election. … Europe will get more serious about trade deals with others internationally, such as being more motivated to approve the trade deal with the Mercosur block of South America.[v]
On December 6, 2024, Politico reported that the European Union approved the massive Mercosur trade deal, despite opposition from France and others, and also pointed to Donald Trump’s reelection as a factor.[vi]
Energy and climate policy differences between the Europeans and Donald Trump look to increase the negative view many in Europe already have about the USA. …
Notice what Donald Trump stated in late 2024:
“The idea that the BRICS countries are trying to move away from the dollar while we stand by and watch is over,” Trump wrote in a Nov. 30 Truth Social post. …
“We require a commitment from these countries that they will neither create a new BRICS currency, nor back any other currency to replace the mighty U.S. dollar or, they will face 100 percent tariffs, and should expect to say goodbye to selling into the wonderful U.S. economy,” the president-elect recently wrote.
In October, speaking at the Economic Club of Chicago with Bloomberg, Trump warned … “We have to have that. We cannot lose it,” Trump said. “You’ll go to Third World status in this country because you take a look at the way things are running.” (Durden T. De-Dollarization Effort In Spotlight After Trump’s Tariff Threat On BRICS. ZeroHedge, December 3, 2024)
Yes, the impact of the USA dollar losing its reserve status would be horrible–and even worse than Donald Trump asserted. And things like 100% tariffs are inflationary.
The BRICS+ nations, which compose nearly half the population of the world, still want to bypass the US dollar.
US President-elect Donald Trump has threatened 100 percent tariffs on BRICS nations if they replace the dollar in international trade.
However, Brazil has indicated that it aims to boost the effort during its presidency of BRICS. President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva’s government has said its objective is the “development of means of payment” to facilitate trade between member countries.[vii]
Furthermore, some suspect that more countries in BRICS+ may destroy the ‘petrodollar’ system that supports the dollar.[viii]
The USA dollar will ultimately crash and be worthless. That “pride” of American power will be broken (cf. Leviticus 26:19). …
Unintended Consequences
While Donald Trump seems to believe that his policies are best for the United States, notice some unintended consequences of them: …
Pushing tariffs and sanctions on other countries is contributing to the rise of the final time of the Gentiles (Luke 21:24; Ezekiel 7:24).Pushing tariffs and other policies that foreign nations do not like is contributing to other nations looking to bypass the USA dollar, as well as trade more with each other and less with the USA. This will further push various globalist’s moves forward without the USA. This is also helping set the stage for the coming European Babylonian Beast to dominate international trade.

Since the above was published, more countries are looking seriously at bypassing the US dollar because of tariffs, sanctions, and other economic issues.
Now, it is not just those aligning with BRICS+ that Donald Trump has trade threats with. Notice the following:
Trump vows tariff hikes of up to 70%, says nations will ‘start to pay’ in August
7 July 2025
Donald Trump stated that “10 or 12” letters would be sent out on Friday, with others to follow, ahead of a 9 July deadline for countries to strike deals and avoid higher import costs.
US President Donald Trump is expected to begin formally notifying key US trading partners of a sweeping new tariff regime as early as Friday, according to media reports.
The duties, set to take effect on 1 August, could see some countries face levies of up to 70% on exports to the United States. …
Trump said around “10 or 12” letters would be issued immediately, with more to follow over the coming days.
“By the ninth they’ll be fully covered,” he stated, referring to a 9 July deadline he previously set for reaching deals that could avert the higher tariffs. …
“They’ll range in value from maybe 60 or 70% tariffs to 10 and 20% tariffs,” he added, making clear that the scale of the new charges would vary by country.
The United States is currently in sensitive talks with several economies, including South Korea, Indonesia, Switzerland and the European Union. The discussions are understood to be at a critical stage, where delicate issues are being tackled. …
The new tariffs have rattled global markets https://www.euronews.com/2025/07/04/trump-vows-tariff-hikes-of-up-to-70-says-nations-will-start-to-pay-in-august
Yes, the European Union and much of the world is concerned.
Notice the following from my article 25 items to prophetically watch in 2025:
8. Trade
Not all warfare is militaristic. There is also economic warfare.
This often involves trade.
The major use of sanctions, mainly pushed by the USA, has been continuing.
This is affecting trade and pushing trade away from the USA. But also encouraging the Anglo-nations to try to increase trade with each other. …
The reelection of Donald Trump will motivate many to trade with each other because of his threats of tariffs, etc.
For a time, Babylon will dominate world trade:
2 And he cried mightily with a loud voice, saying, “Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and has become a dwelling place of demons, a prison for every foul spirit, and a cage for every unclean and hated bird! 3 For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich through the abundance of her luxury.” (Revelation 18:2-3).
While ‘Babylon’ will not fully reign in 2024, with the USA pulling out of trade deals and/or wishing to change them, steps are occurring that are pushing Europe to dominate trade (watch Trade Wars: Are COG warnings coming to pass?).
The final time of the Gentiles is approaching. We are seeing BRICS, the Global South, the EU, and others working on ways to trade and not have to deal with the descendants of Ephraim (UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand) and Manasseh (the USA).
The Europeans will work with many nations to secure stronger trade agreements.
Yes, the above is occurring. Europe has also been proposing to create or at least chang world trade (see EU proposing to set standards for a new (or substantially changed) international trading organization and European Union working on trade and military expansion).
Regarding how the international trade situation will end up, earlier this year the The Continuing Church of God put together the following video on our Bible News Prophecy YouTube channel discussing various views and scriptures about that:
Trade Wars – and the Winner will be …
US President Trump imposed tariffs on a global scale. Those tariffs were imposed on friend and foe alike. It seems as if President Trump is no respecter of nations. But how will this work out for the United States? Will these tariffs result in other nations drawing closer together that have had rather cold, and even not so cold, relations in the past? Will global tariffs result in trade wars? Were the events which are happening predicted by any in the Continuing Church of God? Is Europe drawing closer to China? Is Europe drawing closer to Latin and South America? With the exception of a few of America’s allies, is the net result of these tariffs a worldwide scramble to create new alliances and new trading partners to the exclusion of the United States? What will be the future result of these new alliances? Many of the nations that are now seeking new alliances were just recently America’s allies. They were her friends. Dr. Thiel brings to light the fate of America and her allies at the hands of her former friends, as revealed in the book of Lamentations. As we rapidly approach the end times listen in as Dr. Thiel brings to light world events. Then listen as he shines the light of Bible prophecy directly on the questions raised from these world events.

Church of God warnings are coming to pass.
In the Continuing Church of God:
19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: (2 Peter 1:19, KJV)
We continue to see international affairs that are aligning with properly explained biblical prophecies.
