Medjugorje Mary or Lying Wonder

Medjugorje Mary or Lying Wonder
Dr. Bob Thiel & Mr. Steve Dupuie

Medjugorje Icon at Podbrdo, place of apparition (Beemwej)

Is the vision some children in Medjugorje had really the mother of Jesus, as some claim, or a lying wonder? The answer to that question would obviously be worth knowing. But let’s assume for a minute that the vision really is Mary, the mother of our Lord and Savior; would she lie to you?

I’m going to assume that you said, “No”; Mary, the mother of Jesus wouldn’t lie to me. And I’m further going to assume that all of Christianity would also agree with you. Therefore, if what the vision said to the children in Medjugorje is not true, the vision must be a lying wonder. There’re only two choices.

In order for you and I to know whether or not what the vision told the children was the truth or a lie, we would have to interview the children, respectfully question them, and then follow up on what the vision told them. Well, the Vatican of the Roman Catholic Church has done that investigation for us.

They found that there are many contradictions and inaccuracies in what the vision told the children. To be perfectly clear, that doesn’t mean the children didn’t really see a vision. What it does mean is that whatever they did see was a “lying wonder”.

After 15 years of study, the Vatican did not declare the apparitions authentic or of supernatural origin. Nevertheless, the Vatican determined that, even though the vision was a lying wonder, it would be okay for Roman Catholics to visit and worship at the site. Yet, God says He is seeking people to worship Him in spirit and truth (John 4:23). You can’t have it both ways.

TRANSCRIPT

Dr. Thiel, did you happen to see that recent news article regarding Pope Leo and the claimed Marian apparition Medjugorje?

Yes, there was a, the Senate actually reported that Pope Leo XIV appointed a new Vatican envoy to Medjugori as, quote, The church recognizes its spiritual fruits. And they have given this what's called a Nilhill Obstat, which says they're not objecting to anything going on there, or people worshiping there, basically.

Now, this started to happen during the pontificate of Pope Francis. And so they say that there's no obstacle to the faithful's prudent participation in a spiritual exercise.

But the Vatican is saying the significance of Medjugorje lies in what happens in the lives of the pilgrims. Particularly to conversions, renewed participation in the sacraments, devotion to the Eucharist, religious vocations, and charitable initiatives.

Well, is it true that the visitors to the site bear real spiritual fruit?

No, things like devotion to the Eucharist is not spiritual fruit. And it's a continuation of a pattern we've seen in our last couple of years, like back in September 2024. here's a headline Vatican gives green light to devotion at Bosnia site in Medjugorje where Madonna reportedly appeared and it uh says after 15 years of analysis the Vatican's office didn't declare that it was authentic or supernatural origin and it flagged concerns about contradictions in some of the messages the alleged Visionaries have said they've gotten over the years but it says because they're spiritual fruits from going to Medjugorje, and therefore they said that it's going to be okay.

And supposedly, the Virgin Mary has appeared to the seers more than 40,000 times since 1981. That's from the article.

Now, consider that the Vatican has given Medjugorje niho obstat, which means no objection, yet those of the Vatican who looked at it have seen many false and contradictory statements.

Would it be accurate to say that this report makes it sound as if the Roman Catholic faithful are accepting a lie?

Yes, Jesus' mother Mary is not appearing in Medjugorgi or giving messages. The idea that he is is false. I'm gonna read something from the Catholic Life Site News. Vatican Holy Spirit acting for the good in Medjugorje, but it won't say if it's authentic. It said again, it gave you this Nilhil Abstad, but it says there are some issues with this that are problematic and they're not sure if it's supernatural.

Because although we find many positive elements, some people believe that certain messages contain contradictions or are for the financial interests of the visionaries. The messages that attribute to Our Lady the expression of my plan or my project are also problematic, as are other things associated with it. But in the midst of this phenomena, supposedly, the Holy Spirit's carrying out many beautiful and positive things.

And it also was asked, this apparition, if all religions are good, and it said, All religions are similar before God. God rules over them all just like a sovereign over his kingdom. So basically the Vatican is saying a mixture of good and evil is fine.

So, is the statement all religions are similar before God true or is that statement false?

It's false. But even in 2024, Pope Francis made a similar blasphemous assertion when he falsely stated, quote, every religion is a way to arrive to God, end quote. And the article title was called Pope Francis points to interface salvation as age.

Now, in John 4 verse 23, Jesus himself taught, But the hour is coming, and now is, when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth. The Father is seeking such to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.

Now, the truth is, Mary's not giving messages to seers at Medjugorje, and many of the messages that are going out there are false. Now, Jesus repeatedly referred to the Holy Spirit as the Spirit of Truth. The Holy Spirit is not manifesting truth through the seers at Medjugorje.

Now, in the past, Pope Francis himself voiced serious concern about the authenticity of the apparitions at Medjugorje. But Rome still says it's okay to go over there.

Now, in 2017, it was reported he had serious concerns about the alleged continuing apparitions of the Madonna and Medjugorje. These presumed apparitions don't have a lot of value, the Pope said. He says that I personally am more nasty about this. I prefer the Madonna as mother, our mother, Not a Madonna who's the head of a telegraph office, who every day sends a message of such and such an hour. This is not the mother of Jesus, he said.

Now, by the way, that is from Pope Francis. And he continues with, Who thinks the Madonna says, 'Come tomorrow at this sign and at such time, and I'll deliver a message that visionary.' Well, Pope Francis correctly stated, This is not the mother of Jesus.

Now, interestingly, the old worldwide Church of God Back in 1987, warned about this Medjugorje thing, said that since September 24, 1981, several young people experienced Mary in apparition on a daily basis. They've claimed to get various secrets concerning the future of the world, and the apparition said it was the queen of peace. And he says that it's not getting a lot of coverage in the United States, but it's a big deal in other places.

Well, nearly 40 years after he wrote that in 1987 it's still kind of a big deal now anyway Medjugorje is a town located in Herzegovina it's a region of western Bosnia and Herzegovina in essence where these uh so-called Marian apparitions come she is often referred to as quote Our Lady of Medjugorje or quote Our Lady Queen of Peace by those who believe she's been appearing there since 1981 to, at that time, six children.

And the apparition's allegedly been giving daily or nearly daily messages to three or so people ever since. Others have said that, by the way, it said it was only going to get messages for three days. And that was zillions of years ago, but it keeps going on.

Anyway, the Medjugorje apparition is false, demonic. But again, Pope Francis had endorsed other uh demonic app apparitions he seems to be content to have relatively mild doubts while encouraging people who want to visit magic origin to do it.

Well are there any other Roman Catholic clergy uh that don't believe the vision in Bosnia is from God?

Oh yes oh monsignor pavo zanek who's the former Bishop of that region back in 1990 wrote, even a short description of the falsehoods about Medjugorje, you would need 200 pages. Okay.

And then in 2013, the Apostolic Nunci Arts, the United States communicated that they, whether clergy or laypeople, they're not permitted to participate in meetings, conferences or public celebrations, which the credibility of apparitions like this would be taken for granted.

And then in 1985, Cardinal Ratzinger, the guy who became Pope Benedict XVI, banned pilgrages to the site, but this has been widely ignored. Instead, the seers have grown wealthy as a result of their claims. Anyway, these so-called Marian apparitions are not from the God of the Bible.

There are literally millions of people that believe that Marian message. What would be the purpose of those messages if they are not accurate? What's the point?

I think it's satanic, either with one or more demons being apparitions and or by influencing the so-called seers to lie. Again, the popes have said it's not married, it's not a good thing, yet they're accepting it.

Yet because of signs and personal feelings and alleged healings and conversions, many within Roman Catholicism, as well as Protestants, consider these miraculous proof that Mary is present in Medjugorje is now speaking to us, despite the fact that part of what is said is clearly blasphemous and against Scripture.

Well, why should anyone other than Roman Catholics even care about these visions?

Because if you live long enough in this century, you're going to find there's something to this. Claimed Marian apparitions are a much bigger deal than a lot of people realize, and I believe there are warranted passages in the Bible.

Many people don't realize that it's Marian apparitions were supposed partially responsible for you. The Greco-Roman church is gaining influence over the Church of God area in Asia Minor as well as in Europe in the Middle Ages.

Many people don't know because of apparitions in Mexico and Russia, nearly all of Latin America became Roman Catholic and Russia became accepting of icons.

Satan has many in Asian other places looking for female apparitions and what's going to happen in one or more future Marian apparitions Rises up I think it'll help the Beast rise up Jesus warned that every nearly everyone would be deceived in the end Matthew 24:24 and apparitions look to be part of why partially what Med itself shows is that despite facts truth the Bible and warnings people often want to believe what they think they see as well be opposed to the truth.

And this is going to be a bigger problem later as well.

Does God have anything to say about what seems to be mostly female visions?

Yes. In Isaiah 47, I'm going to be using the Dewey-Rheims Catholic Bible, warns of the virgin who uses enchantments called the Lady of the Kingdoms, quote, Come thou, sit in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon, sit in the ground.

verse five sit you silent oh daughter of the Chaldeans for you shall no longer be called the lady of the kingdoms which is what Catholics refer to uh Mary as uh and you have said verse seven I will be a lady forever you shall not lay these things to my heart

Now hear these things. You are delicate and dwell confidently, and you say in your heart, I am and there is none else besides me. I will not sit as a widow. I shall not know barrenness. So this is some comment made made.

While that is in the Old Testament, Revelation chapter 18 verses 8 to 7 shows that one who says that is going to be destroyed. So there's obviously prophetic implications of this so-called version speaking.

Could there be anything supernatural about these apparitions?

Yes, but that doesn't prove they're from God. In the New Testament, I want to go to 2 Thessalonians chapter 2. We're going to start with verse 9. The Apostle Paul was aspired to write, The coming of the lawless one is according to the workings of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders. and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth.

Now, if people had the love of the truth, they realized these messages at Medjugorje are going against Scripture and are wrong. But they're still accepting it.

Anyway, because they didn't receive the love of the truth that they might be saved. And for this reason, God will send them strong delusion that they should believe the lie. And thinking that Mary is making messages over Medjugorje is a lie. Pope Francis says it wasn't Jesus' mother, Mary.

Anyway, verse 12, 2 Thessalonians. They'll all be condemned who didn't believe the truth, but had pleasure and unrighteousness.

Deception's got to be clever in order to work. The multitudes have already been deceived by signs and wonders coming from statues and alleged apparitions of Mary.

And I believe that the interfaith movement will likely employ some version of Mary for their improper unity.

Look, there's nothing in the Bible that supports the view that God wanted to use weeping statues, apparitions of Mary, et cetera, to give messages. But it does warn of the Lady of the Kingdoms, and it does warn about signs and lying wonders.

Sadly, however, multiple millions are not willing to accept that now, and even more, according to your Bible, will be deceived in the future.

Thank you, Dr. Thiel.
