Many in the leadership of the government of Iran consider that they have been engaging in some type of Holy War:

Iran is waging a theological war against Israel: the flourishing Jewish state in the majority-Muslim Middle East. And, according to their beliefs, destroying Israel is a prerequisite for completing their divine mission.
The Iranian regime considers their nation to be chosen by Allah to prepare the world for the coming of their messiah, the Twelfth Imam (whom they call the Mahdi) who will establish justice in the world. They believe that catastrophic world chaos and the defeat of their enemies, especially Israel, are prerequisites for this event. Their murder and mayhem is not only a means to an end; according to their religion it is an end in itself, and their foreign policy is guided by the desired impending apocalypse. This makes them a most dangerous foe, since there is no chance of negotiating with them or resolving the conflict peacefully; peace and justice will come only through their own martyrdom, in their view.
The leader for whom Iran prepares the way is the Twelfth Imam, or the Mahdi. Twelver Shia Muslims believe that the Mahdi disappeared in the 9th century and was placed into “divine occultation” (ghaybah), where he will remain until he reappears to declare victory over all the world’s Islamic infidels and establish a global Shia Islamic kingdom. Chaos and war, however, are necessary to bring his return.

America’s Holy War in Iran
Secretary of State Marco Rubio characterized the leadership of Iran as “radical Shiite clerics” who make geopolitical decisions based on “pure theology.”
That’s deeply ironic because an American combat unit commander reportedly told officers at a briefing last Monday that the war with Iran was, in fact, part of God’s plan. President Donald Trump, the commander allegedly explained, had been “anointed by Jesus to light the signal fire in Iran to cause Armageddon and mark his return to Earth.” Since the launch of Operation Epic Fury, the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF) has been inundated with dozens of similar complaints from service members across every branch of the military. The reports describe an “unrestricted euphoria” among commanders who believe they are not just fighting a war, but fulfilling the Book of Revelation itself. …
Trump himself, of course, is not exactly a theologian. He has never shown much interest in evangelical doctrine and rarely speaks the language of prophecy that pastors like Hagee or Hitchcock deploy. What he does understand, however, is the political value of religious symbolism. Few presidents have embraced the role of providential figure quite so enthusiastically, from posing with Bibles to suggesting that divine forces intervened to spare his life.
In that sense, Trump occupies a peculiar place in the prophecy ecosystem now swirling around the Iran war. To some believers, he is a kind of King Cyrus figure — an unlikely Persian ruler chosen by God to set in motion history’s final act. To others watching the same events unfold, the symbolism points in a darker direction. After all, the Book of Revelation also features a charismatic world leader who rises amid chaos and commands the loyalty of millions. It’s no accident that “Is Donald Trump the Antichrist?” has become a recurring topic in the online prophecy circuit.
This makes Marco Rubio’s critique of Iran’s “radical Shiite clerics” formulating policy based on theology feel strangely symmetrical. Iranian apocalyptic beliefs about the return of the Mahdi may indeed shape how some leaders in Tehran view the world. Christian Nationalists in US Government Push Attacks on Iran as Holy War

The phrase “Christ is King” isn’t new … In February, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth used the phrase at a convention of the National Religious Broadcasters, galvanizing Christian nationalists’ thirst for authoritarian rulers whose Jesus is defined by militant masculinity — more like a crusader or cowboy than the peace-loving, “sacrificial lamb” celebrated on Easter, who was executed for challenging the hierarchies of empire.
Along the way, the phrase has become a dog whistle for antisemitism, and it’s often combined with other Christian nationalist “holy war” rhetoric that has been spiking since the U.S. and Israel attacked Iran on February 28.
Popular Christian Zionist preachers like John Hagee came out of the gate praising Operation Epic Fury in a sermon from March 10. On March 23, Rep. Andy Ogles posted an AI-generated video of himself, Pete Hegseth, and Marco Rubio dressed as crusaders with the caption: “This is a battle of good vs evil. While some Protestants may consider this to be a crusade or ‘holy war,’ no, that is not how the God of the Bible would view it.

French President Emmanuel Macron has called on nations around the world to not become “vassals” of the US or China, following his public spat with US President Donald Trump over Iran and NATO.
During a trip to Seoul on Friday, Macron urged countries including South Korea, Japan, Brazil, India, Australia, and Canada to form a “coalition of independence” based on shared commitments to issues such as international law, democracy, and climate change.
“During decades, we had a so-called stability based on this international order and the few certainties we had. It’s up and down now. We should not just be passive in this new disorder. We have to build a new order,” Macron said in a speech at Yonsei University.
“Our objective is not to be the vassals of two hegemonic powers… We don’t want to depend on the dominance of, let’s say, China, (and) we don’t want to be too exposed to the unpredictability of the US,” he added.
Macron has refused to back the US-Israeli war against Iran and hit back at Trump, who derided NATO as a “paper tiger” after its European members declined to answer his call to unblock the Strait of Hormuz. …
Macron has significantly increased France’s defense spending in recent years, focusing on missile, drone, and submarine capabilities. “The doors of hell will be opened to you” if Iran’s infrastructure is attacked, Gen. Ali Abdollahi Aliabadi with the country’s joint military command said late Saturday in response to Trump’s renewed threat, state media reported. In turn, the general threatened all infrastructure used by the U.S. military in the region. …
Trump reminded Iran of his deadline in a social media post: “Remember when I gave Iran ten days to MAKE A DEAL or OPEN UP THE HORMUZ STRAIT. We may soon see a type of Hormuzaggedon soon.

Even if Donald Trump has some ‘success,’ oil supplies could be further disruptive, causing issues for Europe and many other parts of the world.

Furthermore, the US has been pushing its European allies away (including with statements about them handling Strait of Hormuz themselves).

While that is consistent with biblical prophecies (e.g. Lamentations 1:1-2), this will not only not end end well for the USA (Daniel 11:39; Isaiah 10:5-11), it will end up badly for even many Muslim countries (cf. Daniel 11:40-43), and ultimately, even Europe itself (cf. Daniel 11:45; Revelation 17:14).

The end of the American empire is coming. Any so-called ‘holy war’ is not going to prevent it. In some ways, it is accelerating the end.
