Iran attacks reportedly hit desalination plant in Kuwait and refineries in the Middle East

Iran continues to launch attacks against Arab nations in the Middle East:

Iran Attacks Kuwaiti Desalination Plant, Bringing Gulf Water Supplies Into Focus

April 3, 2026

On March 8, one week into the conflict, an Iranian attack drone struck a water desalination plant in Bahrain.

Fast forward to Friday morning, on the conflict’s 35th day: Kuwaiti authorities claimed Iranian forces targeted a power and desalination plant, sounding even more alarm bells that civilian infrastructure is increasingly moving into the crosshairs.

Bloomberg quoted Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy as saying an Iranian strike damaged components of the water desalination plant. …

Al Jazeera’s Mohamed A. Hussein recently explained why Gulf states heavily rely on water desalination plants:

The Gulf states are deserts with no permanent rivers. While they lack rivers, they do have seasonal waterways called wadis, which carry water during rare rainfall. These nations rely primarily on groundwater and desalination to supply water to their rapidly growing cities, industrial zones and agricultural areas. …

The Gulf countries produce roughly 40 percent of the world’s desalinated water, operating more than 400 desalination plants along their coasts.

The reliance on desalination plants is extremely high across the Gulf: https://www.zerohedge.com/energy/iran-attacks-kuwaiti-desalination-plant-bring-gulf-water-supplies-focus

Kuwait says a water desalination plant and an oil refinery have been targeted by Iran as the Gulf nations face attacks. Tehran denies targeting the desalination plant. Iran has also fired missiles at Israel. https://www.aljazeera.com/news/liveblog/2026/4/3/iran-war-live-trump-warns-assault-on-infrastructure-hasnt-even-started

Iran and Hezbollah have been launching missiles:

Iran hits Gulf refineries as Trump warns U.S. will attack Iranian bridges, power plants

April 3, 2026

Blasts and sirens rang out across Israel, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia on Friday as air defense systems tried to stave off Iranian drones and missiles. At least two refineries were set on fire by drone attacks or falling debris. The strikes came as President Trump repeated threats to Iran’s leadership on Day 35 of the war.

The military “hasn’t even started destroying what’s left in Iran,” Trump posted late Thursday on social media. “Bridges next, then Electric Power Plants!” …

Iranian officials said one of the longest bridges linking Tehran to the city of Karaj was destroyed overnight.

Among targets hit by Iran on Friday was Kuwait’s largest oil refinery, setting some of its units on fire. Authorities in UAE reported an incident at Habshan gas facility from falling debris. https://www.npr.org/2026/04/03/g-s1-116314/iran-hits-gulf-refineries-as-trump-warns-u-s-will-attack-iranian-bridges-power-plants

Over 140 Rockets Rain Down During Passover in Israel

April 3, 2026

It’s the Passover period in Israel, and Iranian and Hezbollah missiles have been unrelenting, with The Wall Street Journal documenting that they unleashed more than 140 rockets and missiles on Israel, citing the Israeli military – highlighting sustained firepower more than five weeks into the war, and after various estimates have claimed Iran’s stockpile is diminishing.

Tehran fired roughly 20 missiles that penetrated Israeli territory, while Hezbollah launched over 120 rockets into northern Israel within a 24-hour window from early Wednesday to Thursday, Israeli military spokesman Nadav Shoshani said. The military described the barrage as an escalation on both fronts, also as this week the Houthis have become direct launches on Israel, having confirmed coordination in these waves with Tehran. https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/trump-says-little-more-time-needed-open-hormuz-take-oil-make-fortune-israel-hit-hard

Hezbollah Increases its Attempt to Fire at Aircraft

April 3, 2026

It appears that Hezbollah is increasing its efforts to attempt to harm the IDF’s freedom of aerial operation over Lebanese airspace. In recent days, we have identified a rise in Hezbollah’s claims of responsibility for several incidents involving attempts to hit, and in some cases allegedly successfully hitting, IDF aircraft. These statements are accompanied by a Hezbollah influence campaign, reflected in an increase in the publication of videos showing such firing activity. On April 1, the IDF formally updated that on March 31, a surface-to-air missile was launched at an IDF UAV, a hit was indeed identified, and the aircraft crashed. https://israel-alma.org/hezbollah-increases-its-attempt-to-fire-at-aircraft/

Consider the following:

6 Elam bore the quiver
With chariots of men and horsemen,
And Kir uncovered the shield.
7 It shall come to pass that your choicest valleys
Shall be full of chariots,
And the horsemen shall set themselves in array at the gate.

8 He removed the protection of Judah.
You looked in that day to the armor of the House of the Forest;
9 You also saw the damage to the city of David,
That it was great;
And you gathered together the waters of the lower pool.

10 You numbered the houses of Jerusalem,
And the houses you broke down
To fortify the wall. (Isaiah 22:6-10)

Elam in the above is connected to Iran, the House of the Forest to part of Lebanon (which is where Hezbollah is based out of), and the City of David is at least part of Jerusalem. And we also see that houses in Jerusalem will be broken down.

Long time readers of this COGwriter Church of God page are aware that I have long cited Isaiah 22 as pointing to great damage hitting Jerusalem.

Steve Dupuie asked me about the following part of Isaiah 22:

11 You also made a reservoir between the two walls
For the water of the old pool.
But you did not look to its Maker,
Nor did you have respect for Him who fashioned it long ago. (Isaiah 22:11)

He asked me if it was possible that this could be a prophecy related to the destruction of water supplies, like desalination plants in the Middle East, like in Israel.

Based on that and the following verse (12 And in that day the Lord God of hosts Called for weeping and for mourning, For baldness and for girding with sackcloth), I said that was a potential way for that to be fulfilled.

While I had previous written about the risk of desalination plants and water supplies being hit (see Might water shortages, instead of oil, about to become more important to Iran and others in the Middle East? What about fertilizer?), until Steve Dupuie brought it up Isaiah 22:11, I did not see the potential tie with previous verses in Isaiah 22 and desalination plants.

This looks like something to “Watch” (Mark 13:37).
