Today, an alternative news site had a link to a 01/11/2022 article from The Big Wobble which contained the following:
Elijah, the Jewish Prophet
Elijah who is thought to be the greatest of all Jewish prophets, he formed a “school of prophets.” The great prophet Elijah taught his prophets the age of mankind was to exist for the duration 7,000 years and it is thought, Elijah took this information from the Ancient Book Of Enoch.
The 7,000-year prophecy
The history of mankind will last for 7,000 but according to the Bible, 1,000 of them years will come after Armageddon, when Jesus will rule Heaven and Earth, after which Satan will be allowed to roam Earth once more to test mankind for a short period before he is destroyed forever. Enoch prophesied mankind would have a 7,000-year history, take away the 1,000 years for Christ’s Millennial Reign, which would leave us with 6,000 years of history, the other 1,000 coming on the other side of Armageddon.
If we could come up with the exact date of creation, a simple mathematical equation adding 6,000 years onto the date of creation would give us an exact date of the return of our Lord Jesus Christ but that is problem, the Bible does not give us a date of the day of creation, some scholars believe they have traced dates back and found it but we can’t know for sure.
The Date Of Creation
Let’s say the day of creation was 4,000 BC, which is in the ballpark of most Bible scholars, Jesus was killed around 33 AD which was 1,987 years ago meaning the first 6,000 years history of mankind would end around the year 2033 and the great tribulation prophesied in the Bible would begin sometime around 2026 which is uncomfortably close, although the way things are going, not out of the realms of impossibility.The big problem here is no one can agree on the exact date for the creation of mankind.
Many scholars have attempted to find an actual date of creation and although most come up with a ballpark figure of around 50 years or less, they all can’t agree on one actual year. I have used two different scholars from different time periods who have arrived at two different dates of creation to help me try to corroborate Enoch’s prophecy. Let’s address several of the points.
The first is that, no, the Great Tribulation will not start in 2026. The earliest it can start at this stage is 2030.

Countdown to the Great Tribulation
Is 2026 the year the Great Tribulation finally begins? Is this is the start of a Sabbatical cycle some have postulated countdowns to the return of Jesus? Is a Sabbatical cycle or Jubilee year even mentioned by Jesus as a leading indicator of the Great Tribulation? Jesus, Himself, pointed to events, including some written by the prophet Daniel. If God has placed some of the understanding of the signs of the beginning of the Great Tribulation in the words of Daniel the prophet till the time of the end, what are those signs? If 2026 is not the year the Great Tribulation begins, could any of the signs mentioned in the book of Daniel begin to take place in 2026? Could this year be the beginning of the end? Do you want to know? In Matthew 24:3 Jesus’ disciples wanted to know. Of course, we know Jesus said no one knows the day or the hour, but Jesus also told us in Matthew 24:33 that we will know when it is at the very doors! What about the timing of Armageddon? Now, as far as the 6,000 years go, there are several issues.
One is not just the Creation of Adam date, but also how long were he and Eve in the Garden before sin?

Now, here is the next portion of genealogies from Genesis 11:
10 This is the genealogy of Shem: Shem was one hundred years old, and begot Arphaxad two years after the flood.
12 Arphaxad lived thirty-five years, and begot Salah.
14 Salah lived thirty years, and begot Eber.
16 Eber lived thirty-four years, and begot Peleg.
18 Peleg lived thirty years, and begot Reu.
20 Reu lived thirty-two years, and begot Serug.
22 Serug lived thirty years, and begot Nahor.
24 Nahor lived twenty-nine years, and begot Terah.
26 Now Terah lived seventy years, and begot Abram, Nahor, and Haran.
32 So the days of Terah were two hundred and five years, and Terah died in Haran.Added up, this equals 427 years (2+35+30+34+30+32+30+29+205=427), so 2083 Anno Mundi. The age of Terah when Abraham was born has also been debated (see section later called The Age of Terah at the Time of Abram’s Birth), though is not part of the above calculation.
Galatians 3:17 shows 430 years; while 1 Kings 6:1 shows 480 years from the exodus from Egypt to the fourth year of Solomon’s reign (this, by the way, would make the Exodus as occuring in 1446 B.C., which is 966 + 480; for more details see When was the Exodus?).
Therefore, if we add up 1,656 + 427 + 24 + 430 + 480 + 966, this suggests the creation of Adam or his departure from Eden was around 3983 BC. Yet, because that years of life are not exact (few people are born and die on the precisely same calendar date–hence there could possibly be 10 or so additional years), this could be off somewhat–but it does give a biblical indication of when the end is coming.

The Big Wobble also mentioned that Jesus may have been killed in the year 33. While I do not believe the 33 is possible, most associated with the COGs assert Jesus was killed in 31 A.D., with some others saying 30 A.D. because of the dates of Passover those years. However, 34 or 35 A.D. may also be correct–see also Could God Have a 6,000 Year Plan? What Year Does the 6,000 Years End?
Now, the comments about Elijah and the 6000/7000 years is from tradition, not scripture–and even IF the so-called Book of Enoch was involved, the version that is claimed to be it has many flaws (see our free eBook: Who Gave the World the Bible? And while I still believe that there is biblical support for 6000/7000 year plan, I pointed out several years ago that this is by tradition. The following is a link to a sermon I gave on this back in 2022:

When Does the 6000 Years End? 2031? 2035?
Jews, Christians, and Greco-Roman Catholics have taught that just like God re-created the Earth in six days, then rested on the Sabbath, that He also has a similar plan for humanity. Yet, instead of six literal days, followed by another literal day, that this is 6,000 years, followed by a 1,000 year millennium. Could God have a 6000/7000 year plan? If we are in “the last days,” when might the last days have begun? According to Jews, there was to be a 2000 year Messianic era–when might it end? Why does 2030 seem too early? What about 2031? Since 35 A.D. also had a Tuesday evening Passover, could 2035 possibly be the end of the 6,000 years? What about looking for the signs Jesus taught, such as the abomination of desolation and the proclamation of the gospel of the kingdom to the world as a witness? If the 6,000/7,000 year plan is based on tradition, must it be so? Do any scriptures support the 6,000/7,000 year plan? Dr. Thiel addresses these matters.

Jesus warned to not be deceived about the end times. He then listed many end time events. After listing events that would happen, Jesus said:
42 Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. (Matthew 24:42-43)
Notice a few other statements from Jesus related to the end times:
33 Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is. 34 It is like a man going to a far country, who left his house and gave authority to his servants, and to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to watch. 35 Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming — in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning — 36 lest, coming suddenly, he find you sleeping. 37 And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!” (Mark 13:33-37)
34 “But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. 35 For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.” (Luke 21:34-36)
3 Remember therefore how you have received and heard; hold fast and repent. Therefore if you will not watch, I will come upon you as a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you. (Revelation 3:3)
Jesus did not warn against the End Times, He repeatedly is recorded as telling His followers to watch and pray so that the end would not come upon them unexpectedly.
The Apostle Paul told Christians to consider and watch:
11 And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. 12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand. (Romans 13:11)
3 For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. 4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. 5 You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. 6 Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. (1 Thessalonians 5:3-6)
While many Roman Catholics no longer believe that God has a 6000/7000 year plan, notice something in a book that was blessed in 1966 by Pope Paul VI:
E. Culligan (20th century):…the time of the First Resurrection will end…It is the time when the Seventh Millennium will set in, and will be the day of Sabbath in the plan of creation…It has been the common opinion among Jews, Gentiles, and Latin and Greek Christians, that the present evil world will last no more than 6,000 years…Christians and Jews, from the beginning of Christianity, and before, have taught that 6,000 years after the creation of Adam and Eve, the consummation will occur. The period after the consummation is to be the seventh day of creation–the Sabbath…St. Jerome said, “It is a common belief that the world will last 6,000 years.”
…I believe that as the last days come to an end so will the sixth day of creation (Culligan E. The Last World War and the End of Time. The book was blessed by Pope Paul VI, 1966. TAN Books, Rockford (IL), pp. 113-115).

Because the end it getting closer, 2033 does not look to be that year. But it could be close to that.

6. The Philadelphia Church Era and Remnant Though the era was predominant circa 1933 A.D. to 1986 A.D., but some few faithful are still in it as a remnant has continued. The old Radio Church of God and old Worldwide Church of God were part of the era, and now the remnant of that era is basically the most faithful in the Church of God, like who hold to the beliefs and practices of the Continuing Church of God. 7. The Laodicean Church Era has been predominant circa 1986 A.D. to present. The Laodiceans are non-Philadelphians who mainly descended from the old WCG or its offshoots.
