The late deacon Richard Close was working on a sermon for the CCOG, based on one about 'Gideon's Army' given by the former WCG minister Jim Rector who died in 2006. For this sermon, Dr. Thiel uses much of the Jim Rector information, but adds many scriptures and points that were not part of the original one. Are Christians supposed to be spiritual soldiers? The sermon is based on the accounts of Gideon and his army, which was dropped from 32,000 to 10,000 to 300 to face an army of 135,000. Did God use a dream and interpretation of a dream to motivate Gideon? Was Gideon the ONE MAN that God was using to lead His work? Did the many leader of the people of God not heed God's appointed leader? The 300 faced that army with trumpets and clay vessels (which they broke) that contained candles--yet won. Can God do similar things in your life when you face overwhelming battles? What about trumpets and light? What are the fiery darts? Where does the Holy Spirit tie in with this? Was hierarchical church governance the one thing that Herbert W. Armstrong clearly stated that God raised him to restore? Was someone to restore more? What about church governance and end time Christians instructing many? Are there parallels to the 300 and Philadelphian Christians who have little strength? If God is for us, who can be against us (Romans 8:31)? Will you walk by faith and not be sight? Dr. Thiel addresses these matters and more.
