Be Diligent: 4 More Questions the World's Religions Struggle With

The Apostle Paul wrote:

15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:15)

6 Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one. (Colossians 4:6)

This sermon provides answers and explanations to questions that those outside the Continuing Church of God have.

There was an article on MSN by Lisa O titled ’15 questions that religious people struggle to answer.’ Yet, while the world’s religious struggle with them, we in the Continuing Church God have long had answers to them. The first eleven of those questions were covered in the first three parts of this four-part sermon series. In this sermon, the last, and following, four were asked and answers provided for:

12. Why does God allow His followers to be deceived by false religions?

13. Why did God's morality change over time? In the Old Testament, God commanded genocides, allowed slavery, and issued death penalties for minor offenses. But modern Christians say God is loving and merciful. If God's morality is unchanging, why does it seem to evolve with human society? Did God change, or did people change their interpretation of Him?

14. Why do non-believers often live more moral lives than believers? Many atheists and agnostics live ethical, compassionate lives without believing in God, while some religious individuals commit terrible acts in His name. If morality truly comes from God, why are there so many good non-believers and so many unethical religious people? Why doesn't belief in God consistently lead to better behavior?

15. If faith is the key to salvation, why doesn't God make belief easier?

Well, those questions show a lack of understanding the plan of the loving and true God of the Bible. Yet, in this sermon, Dr. Thiel addresses each of these questions primarily through quoting the Bible as well as free literature put out by the Continuing Church of God. He discusses free choice, deceit, Herbert W. Armstrong's comments about human views of fairness & the 6000/7000 year plan, that God will plead His case, that while God does not change that civil instructions given to the physical nation of Israel differ from how Christians with the Holy Spirit live, those killed through genocide will be resurrected, that sinners (including from Sodom and Gomorrah) will have an opportunity for salvation, Emperor Constantine's introduction of military service for the religious, the Crusades, that faithful Christians never became militaristic, hypocrites who claim Christianity, that some of the non-religious do accept some of God's laws, why all are not called now, that all will be taught & have an opportunity for salvation, and that a massive harvest is coming. Dr. Thiel mentions some of the beliefs of the Roman Catholic, Protestant, and Eastern Orthodox churches. He also mentions that these 15 questions include many that atheists ask, yet the Continuing Church of God has answers. Dr. Thiel encourages faithful Christians to be diligent, seek knowledge, and gain understanding so they can instruct many and teach answers to questions that people in the world struggle with.
