Denmark urges Trump to cease threats to take over Greenland

The leaders of Denmark and Greenland on Sunday called on US President Donald Trump to stop threatening to take over Greenland.
The appeals come after Trump again insisted that the US needs to control the resource-rich Arctic territory for national security, a day after US forces attacked Venezuela and captured President Nicolas Maduro.
In an interview on Sunday with The Atlantic magazine, Trump said: “We do need Greenland, absolutely. We need it for defense.” He added that the island is “surrounded by Russian and Chinese ships.”
On Sunday evening, Trump told reporters on board Air Force One that the US needs Greenland “from the standpoint of national security, and Denmark is not going to be able to do it.”
What did the leaders of Denmark and Greenland say?
In a statement, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said, “It makes absolutely no sense to talk about the ⁠US needing to take ‍over Greenland. The US has no right to annex any of the three countries in the Danish Kingdom.”
The Kingdom of Denmark consists of three self-governing parts: Denmark proper (the mainland and its islands), the Faroe Islands and Greenland.

Greenland’s leader declared “enough is enough,” and Denmark’s allies in Europe affirmed that the Arctic island’s future must be determined by its people, rebuffing renewed remarks by President Donald Trump about acquiring the vast territory.
Trump spoke a day after the U.S. special forces captured Venezuelan ‍President Nicolas Maduro in a stunning raid, with Trump stating that Washington intended to oversee governance of the oil-rich Latin American country. The ⁠U.S. operation rekindled concerns in Denmark that Greenland, an autonomous Danish territory, might face a similar scenario.

Denmark in ‘crisis mode’ as Trump sets sights on Greenland after Venezuela attack

Denmark is in “full crisis mode” after U.S. President Donald Trump once again set his sights on Greenland, following the strike on Venezuela.
“We need Greenland from the standpoint of national security and Denmark is not going to be able to do it, I can tell you,” Trump said Sunday on Air Force One, echoing similar remarks made separately to The Atlantic magazine.
His comments come a day after the U.S. conducted a major military operation in Venezuela, capturing Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, in a surprise intervention that sent shock waves across the globe.
It has raised alarm in Denmark, which is responsible for the defense of Greenland, a self-governing Danish territory.
“I have to say this very directly to the United States: It makes absolutely no sense to talk about the need for the United States to take over Greenland,” Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said Sunday in a Facebook post.
“The Kingdom of Denmark – and thus Greenland – is part of NATO and is therefore covered by the alliance’s security guarantee. We already have a defense agreement between the Kingdom and the United States today, which gives the United States wide access to Greenland,” Frederiksen said.

Trump rattled European leaders by capturing Venezuela’s Maduro in a Delta Force-led blitz in Caracas, taking him to New York where he is to stand trial.
Trump has said the United States will now “run” Venezuela indefinitely and tap its vast oil reserves.
Asked in a telephone interview with The Atlantic about the implications of the Venezuela military operation for mineral-rich Greenland, Trump said it was up to others to decide.
“They are going to have to view it themselves. I really don’t know,” Trump was quoted as saying.

The Trump-Vance Administration has been upsetting many nations–including friendly ones like Denmark. The fact is that there will be many unintended consequences of Donald Trump and his Administration’s statements, threats, and policies.

They are pushing away many allies and offending a lot of them. Threatening a NATO ally is pushing a friend away. More and more are seeing the USA act as a bully.

Donald Trump’s foreign policy statements have unsettled many—in the USA as well as foreign nations. He is believed by many to be more unpredictable than Richard Nixon. Many have rightly pointed out that he often acts as a bully.
Greenland
There is also something referred to as the “law of unintended consequences.” There are consequences for the USA, Europe, and elsewhere that have and will occur because of Donald Trump’s statements and actions.
Consider, for one example, that after his reelection, Donald Trump stated that the United States needed to have Greenland for defense and economic purposes. Not only did that offend the governments of Denmark and Greenland, the Danish government then announced that it would greatly increase the amount of money it would spend on the defense of Greenland.[i]
On January 7, 2025, Donald Trump refused to rule out military or economic actions to acquire Greenland.[ii] The next day, European leaders warned they would not tolerate an attack on Greenland and that the continent of Europe was strong.[iii]
Donald Trump then stated he would implement high tariffs against Denmark to try to get it to sell Greenland to the USA.
However, that overlooks the fact that the European Union has its Anti-Coercion Instrument, which is designed to stop a foreign power from trying to punish one EU nation. Because of that, analysts report that punitive tariffs against Denmark “could lead to unintended consequences” from the EU against the USA.[iv]
One longer term consequence of Donald Trump’s rhetoric may be that the Europeans could decide that Greenland would be a useful place to conduct surveillance on the US and Canada.
Additionally, it is also possible that Greenland could be used as a base to 1) interfere with US military satellite communications, 2) possibly neutralize some US military moves in Greenland, or even 3) a place to also launch an attack against the US, Canada, and/or even the UK. Historically, many powerful civilizations were destroyed through economic, military, health and moral decline. Will alliances like NATO remain helpful through these difficulties? At least 22 predictions/warnings I made about the first Donald Trump Administration were totally or at least partially fulfilled during his first term in office. … (p. 6)

Furthermore, at a conference in 2025, Herr Guttenberg referred to “bully Trump” and said Europe needed to be achieve an independent military defense so that it no longer needs to dependent on the USA (Winkler T. Geeint gegen den “Bully Trump.” MeinBezirk, January 9, 2025). An unintended consequence of Donald Trump’s presidency may be the rise of Barron Guttenberg. (p. 56)
Now, another reality is that there are many in Europe that wanted Donald Trump to win the 2024 election as they believe that will help motivate Europe to arm itself and become more independent of the USA (p. 58)
Many in the USA do not seem to realize that once Europeans are spending more for their militaries, they will also expect to have more independence from the USA as to how military might will be used. (p. 63)
Donald Trump’s rise has also spurred the Europeans to further unify among themselves. (p. 88)
While PESCO is not yet capable of eliminating the USA, in 2024 it reportedly was helping lay the groundwork which is “leading to greater European strategic autonomy independent of the United States.” (p. 115)
Chapter 11 of the Book of Daniel discusses various leaders, including those known as the King of the North and the King of the South. The one who will be the King of the North is prophesied to rise up “When the transgressors have reached their fullness” (Daniel 8:23), which suggests that this is about when God has had enough of the increasing immorality in nations like the USA and its British-descended allies. … the King of the North will do things that he had not told the USA he would do; … (p. 119)
This King will employ deceit:
21 … he shall come in peaceably, and seize the kingdom by intrigue. (Daniel 11:21)
23 “And in the latter time of their kingdom, When the transgressors have reached their fullness, A king shall arise, Having fierce features, Who understands sinister schemes. 24 His power shall be mighty, but not by his own power; He shall destroy fearfully, And shall prosper and thrive; He shall destroy the mighty, and also the holy people.
25 “Through his cunning he shall cause deceit to prosper under his rule; And he shall exalt himself in his heart. He shall destroy many in their prosperity. (Daniel 8:23-25)
The King of the North will deceitfully proclaim “peace and safety” while plotting for the sudden destruction of those opposing him (1 Thessalonians 5:2–3). He will destroy the mighty American-British alliance.
Because of not accepting and understanding biblical prophecies, many political and other leaders will be hoping for and believing in a false peace. The sudden destruction to come is likely to include a nuclear or other high tech attack, and could possibly happen in conjunction with a NATO training or other exercise that would catch the USA and its Anglo-Saxon-Celtic allies off guard. Other nations are likely to also be involved.
The USA will be attacked by “friends” consistent with the following:
1 How lonely sits the city
That was full of people!
How like a widow is she,
Who was great among the nations!
The princess among the provinces Has become a slave!
2 She weeps bitterly in the night,
Her tears are on her cheeks;
Among all her lovers
She has none to comfort her.
All her friends have dealt treacherously with her;
They have become her enemies. cf. Lamentations 1:1-2).
Notice the one who was “great among the nations” will be conquered by friends, who will become enemies.
The USA was prophesied to be “great” in Genesis 48:19 and is considered by international sources to be great among the nations of the world today.[v]

Many have noticed that Donald Trump is treating nations who are considered to be “friends” as enemies (e.g. see RT: Zelensky says US doesn’t care about EU; BBC: Frenemies?).

The Bible warns about a great power who will be destroyed by its friends, who become enemies (Lamentations 1:1-2)–the Trump-Vance Administration has been pushing friends to become enemies.

The latest statements by Donald Trump and others associated with his Administration will likely be pointed to in Europe as proof that:

The United States is not acting as an ally.
That the EU needs to greatly increase its military.
That the EU must become militarily independent of the USA.
The NATO alliance is not reliable.

Furthermore, this move by the Trump Administration may lead to a more militarized Greenland and could play a role in the conquering of the USA–which is prophesied to happen (cf. Daniel 11:39).

USA to leave NATO?
There are bills being promoted by US politicians in both the US Senate and the US House of Representatives to have the USA leave NATO alliance by 2027. There is also the new National Security Strategy report from the Trump Administration which looks to change NATO. Europe is offended, but is preparing for this to take place. How so? By taking economic (expanding trade relations) and military (by increased spending and added troops) steps And it is the military preparations by Europe that should most concern the United States. Dr. Thiel points out how the fragmented state of the European Union will lead to the reorganization of Europe (Revelation 17:12-13) which will ultimately bring about the rise of the prophesied King of the North (Daniel 11:39-43). Could a blitzkrieg type of an attack under the guise of a NATO-type exercise lead to the conquering of the USA? Scriptures quoted by Dr. Thiel point out that when this reorganization of Europe takes place the destruction and enslavement of the United States of America, the nation with the strongest fortresses, is not far behind. Daniel 8:23 tells us this King of the North understands “sinister schemes”. Could one of those sinister schemes be the destruction of the United States? Are there other scriptures that confirm this destruction? Who is Assyria? Who is Samaria? Who is Ephraim? The answer is surprising but makes clear many scriptures that were sealed until the time of the end.
