What do the Empty Vessels in Gideon's Army Mean for Us Today? (Judges 7)

Gideon’s 300 carried clay pitchers into battle (Judges 7:16-17), vessels that had to be empty before they could hold the torches placed inside them. Scripture shows that vessels represent human lives: made from the earth, designed to hold something, and meant to be filled with the life of Christ. Just as the pitchers had to be emptied and later broken for the light to shine out, believers today must be emptied of self so Christ can dwell within and be revealed outwardly. The empty vessels in Gideon’s Army picture the spiritual condition required for anyone who follows God into battle today.
