Steve Dupuie: Dr. Thiel, what does the Bible say about peace in the Mideast?
Dr. Thiel: Well, the Bible talks about a deal happening in Daniel 9:26-27. And it's a seven-year, one-week deal. But it also says the deal will be broken in the middle. It says the deal is going to be confirmed by somebody who's called a prince. And so that means he's not the top leader at the time. Now, this leader is going to be European.
31, this guy who was the prince before is now called the king. He was the king of the north, so he elevated his position. And so he's going to break this deal after the three and a half years. Now, why do we think this is a peace deal? 26-27 doesn't say that.
25, it says, By peace, this leader is going to destroy many. So it's the same guy, so that's one. 24, it says he's going to enter peaceably. And he is the same guy in Daniel 11:31 who violates all of this and changes the whole deal. So the Bible talks about there will be a peace deal that'll come in the Middle East.
The Bible also warns in other parts that people are gonna say peace, peace when there is no peace, 'cause this deal will not last. So most likely this will happen after a regional conflict. We're seeing a regional conflict go on in the Middle East right now. It's possible we'll see a peace deal like the one the Bible says very soon.
