Faith vs. Merit: What Really Determines Salvation

According to Scripture, eternal life is granted to those who repent and accept Jesus Christ, while others face the second death—the lake of fire. Ancient Jewish teachings from the rabbis mention three books opened on Rosh Hashanah: one for the righteous, one for the wicked, and one for those in between. But salvation doesn’t depend on human merit—it depends on faith in Christ.

Our “merit” determines rewards, not salvation. Jesus said we’ll be rewarded according to our works, but not saved by them. Salvation is God’s gift through repentance and belief, showing His mercy and justice in perfect balance.
