Is something from space about to hit the earth?

Michael Snyder wonders about that:

Why Are Scientists Suddenly So Concerned About An Asteroid Hitting Earth? Do They Know Something That We Do Not?

October 22, 2026

Authorities assure us that we are perfectly safe and that no giant space rocks are heading our way. If that is true, why is a scenario that has been developed for the 2027 Planetary Defense Conference “based around a hypothetical impact threat” from a very large asteroid? And why are scientists at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory studying how to destroy a giant asteroid that is heading toward Earth using nuclear weapons? If there is no threat anywhere on the horizon, wouldn’t you think that those scientists would have something better to do with their time? On top of everything else, NASA recently concluded a secretive operation known as “OSIRIS-REx” in which a spacecraft visited an asteroid, plucked a piece off of it, and returned it to Earth. While the general public is being told that we are safe for decades to come, a tremendous amount of time, money and energy is being poured into preparing for a potential asteroid threat. Do they know something that the rest of us do not? https://endoftheamericandream.com/why-are-scientists-suddenly-so-concerned-about-an-asteroid-hitting-earth-do-they-know-something-that-we-do-not/

To answer that last question, basically scientists see many objects in space. They know some have hit the earth in the past. They suspect others will in the future. And they know that sometimes asteroids or comets appear and/or change protectories. Thus, they are looking at possible human options.

Now, throughout the past couple of decades, I have denounced various ones who asserted that some asteroid or comet was about to strike the earth within weeks or months to fulfill what could be called the Wormwood prophecy.

Why did I denounce them?

Well, because this object, called Wormwood in the Bible, cannot hit for some time.

Over 1900 years ago, the Apostle John was inspired to write about Wormwood and more in the Book of Revelation. If you look at the sequence of events that precede Wormwood, it is obvious to all that it cannot happen for several years.

First of all, we have to see the opening of all seven seals of Revelation. And as of this time, at the most three may have started to be opened. And we are at least 3 1/2 years away from the opening of the fifth seal of Revelation 6:9, which starts what Jesus referred to as the Great Tribulation in Matthew 24:21.

Furthermore, we not only have not seen the opening of the fifth or sixth seal, notice what happens in the first nine verses with the opening of the seventh seal:

1 When He opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. 2 And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and to them were given seven trumpets. 3 Then another angel, having a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. 4 And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, ascended before God from the angel’s hand. 5 Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and threw it to the earth. And there were noises, thunderings, lightnings, and an earthquake.

6 So the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.

7 The first angel sounded: And hail and fire followed, mingled with blood, and they were thrown to the earth. And a third of the trees were burned up, and all green grass was burned up.

8 Then the second angel sounded: And something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea, and a third of the sea became blood. 9 And a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed. (Revelation 8:1-9)

It is AFTER all of those are fulfilled that we see the third angel sound and Wormwood be mentioned:

10 Then the third angel sounded: And a great star fell from heaven, burning like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water. 11 The name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters became wormwood, and many men died from the water, because it was made bitter. (Revelation 8:10-11)

Notice that Wormwood does not fall until after the third trumpet associated with the seventh seal of Revelation is blown. Well, this would mean that the fourth, fifth, and sixth seal would also have already been opened–which are mentioned in Revelation 6:7-17, and the 144,000 numbered as shown in Revelation 7.

The Wormwood does exist–but again Wormwood cannot hit for several years at the earliest as it happens after the tribulation and not until after the third trumpet is blown. That does not mean that there cannot be any problems from meteorites, comets, asteroids, solar flares, etc. But it does mean that this age will not end for at least several years.

Could the Wormwood star prophesied in the Bible be some type of a comet or asteroid?

The Bible teaches that Wormwood is some type of star that burns like a torch. Comets look like that as can some asteroids when they hit the earth’s atmosphere.

Wormwood is also called a great star, which suggests that it is not a small meteorite. But it is not big enough to obliterate the earth.

Wormwood could be a large comet hitting the earth which would also seem to have similar effects to that of a medium-sized asteroid doing so.  And we see that having something actually hit the earth and do massive damage is predicted in the Bible.

Although the biblical Wormwood does not have to be a comet, and possibly could be an asteroid (or at least possibly come from the asteroid belt), the Bible’s description sounds more like a comet than an asteroid.

Why?

In addition to looking like a star falling from the heavens looking like a torch (and an asteroid could possibly do that), comets normally appear with cyanogen. Astronomers state hydrogen cyanide on comets may be their source of cyanogen gas.

Interestingly, the cyanogen gas mixes with water to form hydrogen cyanide, which has an almond odor and bitter taste, and reportedly causes death at concentrations over 5 parts per million.

And thus for Bible skeptics, the fact that centuries before humans had any idea that comets could produce a poisonous bitter water, it is recorded in the Bible. This should be additional proof to those willing to see that the Bible has been inspired by God. The Apostle John would have no other way to know about that.

Yet, because of limited information in the Bible, it is possible that the biblically prophesied Wormwood could be an asteroid. Though a comet seems more likely. However, like comets, some asteroids are bound to have substances that would be bitter in water which is prophesied for Wormwood.

Some scientists think something like Wormwood could be stopped. Notice:

Interestingly, NASA is a participant in the 2027 Planetary Defense Conference. An exercise is underway that simulates how authorities would respond to a “Tunguska-sized object” that is headed toward Earth…

Additionally, NASA’s Center for Near-Earth Object Studies (CNEOS) regularly participates in planetary defense exercises designed to test these assessment methods, with current scenarios under development for the 2027 Planetary Defense Conference that take a cue from one of history’s most concerning airburst events.

“The current exercise that is underway for the 2027 Planetary Defense Conference is based around a hypothetical impact threat from a roughly Tunguska-sized object,” Wheeler told The Debrief.

For those of you that are not familiar, in 1908 the Tunguska event flattened approximately 2,000 square kilometers in Siberia…

Tunguska event, enormous explosion that is estimated to have occurred at 7:14 AM plus or minus one minute on June 30, 1908, at an altitude of 5–10 km (15,000–30,000 feet), flattening some 2,000 square km (500,000 acres) and charring more than 100 square km of pine forest near the Podkamennaya Tunguska River in central Siberia (60°55′ N 101°57′ E), Russia. The energy of the explosion is estimated to have been equivalent to the explosive force of as much as 15 megatons of TNT—a thousand times more powerful than the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima, Japan, on August 6, 1945. …

A shocking study that was recently conducted by scientists at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory is raising a lot of eyebrows…

A new study from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) has used advanced 3D simulations to assess how effective a nuclear weapon would be for destroying a dangerous space object such as a large asteroid on a collision course with Earth. https://endoftheamericandream.com/why-are-scientists-suddenly-so-concerned-about-an-asteroid-hitting-earth-do-they-know-something-that-we-do-not/

So, scientists have looked at trying to stop something from outer space from hitting the earth.

But that is a vain hope when it comes to trying to stop Wormwood from hitting.

Why?

Because biblical prophecies will come to pass.

That said, while comets are still more likely to fulfill the Wormwood prophecy than asteroids, humans still have no real effective way to deal with potential asteroid devastation–despite some scientists hoping otherwise–and some day, a major object from the sky will strike the earth according to biblical prophecy.

And while comets are still more likely to fulfill the Wormwood prophecy than asteroids, humans still have no real effective way to deal with potential asteroid devastation–despite some scientists hoping otherwise–and some day, a major object from the sky will strike the earth according to biblical prophecy.

Yes, Wormwood will one day hit the earth and cause damage to seas and deaths to humans.

But, that is at least six years from now, and probably more than that when you look at all the other events that need to happen before Wormwood will hit.

As Jesus said:

37 And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch! (Mark 13:37)
