Trump aide Miller says no one would fight US over future of Greenland

One of US President Donald Trump’s senior aides has ramped up Washington’s threat to take over Greenland, stating on Monday that no one would militarily challenge the United States over the future of the autonomous Danish territory.
In an interview with CNN, Trump’s deputy chief of staff for policy Stephen Miller said it was Washington’s “formal position … that Greenland should be part of the US”.
His comments followed the US president’s renewed call for the strategic, mineral-rich Arctic island to come under Washington’s control in the aftermath of the weekend military operation in Venezuela that resulted in the capture of Nicolás Maduro. …
When asked if the US would rule out the use of force to annex Greenland, Miller said there was “no need to even think or talk about” a military operation in the Arctic island.
“Nobody is going to fight the US militarily over the future of Greenland,” he said.
Miller is widely seen as the architect of several of Trump’s policies, steering the president on his hardline immigration stance and domestic agenda.
EU leaders defend Greenland
Meanwhile, leaders of six European nations — Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain and the UK — issued a joint statement on Tuesday defending Greenland’s sovereignty.
“Greenland belongs to its people,” said the statement, which was later backed by Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof.
“It is for Denmark and Greenland, and them only, to decide on matters concerning Denmark and Greenland.”
On Sunday, Trump doubled down on his claim that Greenland should become part of the US, despite calls by the Danish and Greenlandic leaders to stop “threatening” the territory.
“Greenland is covered with Russian and Chinese ships all over the place,” Trump said while aboard Air Force One en route to Washington. “We need Greenland from the standpoint of national security, and Denmark is not going to be able to do it.”

U.S. allies warn Trump over threats to seize Greenland

Major European allies warned the United States on Tuesday that they would “not stop defending” the values of sovereignty and territorial integrity following President Donald Trump’s threats against the Danish island of Greenland.
Trump and his team have ramped up hostile suggestions that they want to seize Greenland, a vast Artic island of just 50,000 people that has mineral and strategic significance.
The U.S. attack against Venezuela and capture of President Nicolás Maduro — which the United Nations said undermined international law — has raised fears that this might not be an empty threat. …
“The Kingdom of Denmark — including Greenland — is part of NATO,” the allies said in a joint statement.
“Security in the Arctic must therefore be achieved collectively, in conjunction with NATO allies including the United States, by upholding the principles of the U.N. Charter, including sovereignty, territorial integrity and the inviolability of borders. These are universal principles, and we will not stop defending them,” said the statement, issued by the leaders of France, Germany, Britain, Italy, Poland, Spain and Denmark. …
Many experts believe that U.S. military action to seize the territory would spell the end of the alliance and mark a new nadir for transatlantic ties that are already strained under Trump.

Brussels is pushing to vote on the free trade agreement between the European Union and the Latin American bloc (Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay, collectively known as Mercosur) this week, with a final vote scheduled for Friday.
The European Commission is expected to release a statement soon, Magyar Nemzet writes, citing Politico sources, as it seeks to appease countries that have so far opposed the Latin American trade deal. …
The move could win back the support of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who holds sway over her country’s agricultural lobby group. Italy has a virtually decisive vote on the deal. …
If the vote passes, Commission President Ursula von der Leyen could finally fly to Paraguay next week to sign the agreement, which has been overdue for more than 25 years, notes Magyar Nemzet.

The deal between the European Union and the Mercosur block is a big deal. And yes, it is pressure from Donald Trump that has further motivated the EU to make a deal.

Donald Trump’s foreign policy statements have unsettled many—in the USA as well as foreign nations. He is believed by many to be more unpredictable than Richard Nixon. Many have rightly pointed out that he often acts as a bully.
Greenland
There is also something referred to as the “law of unintended consequences.” There are consequences for the USA, Europe, and elsewhere that have and will occur because of Donald Trump’s statements and actions.
Consider, for one example, that after his reelection, Donald Trump stated that the United States needed to have Greenland for defense and economic purposes. Not only did that offend the governments of Denmark and Greenland, the Danish government then announced that it would greatly increase the amount of money it would spend on the defense of Greenland.[i]
On January 7, 2025, Donald Trump refused to rule out military or economic actions to acquire Greenland.[ii] The next day, European leaders warned they would not tolerate an attack on Greenland and that the continent of Europe was strong.[iii]
Donald Trump then stated he would implement high tariffs against Denmark to try to get it to sell Greenland to the USA.
However, that overlooks the fact that the European Union has its Anti-Coercion Instrument, which is designed to stop a foreign power from trying to punish one EU nation. Because of that, analysts report that punitive tariffs against Denmark “could lead to unintended consequences” from the EU against the USA.[iv]
One longer term consequence of Donald Trump’s rhetoric may be that the Europeans could decide that Greenland would be a useful place to conduct surveillance on the US and Canada.
Additionally, it is also possible that Greenland could be used as a base to 1) interfere with US military satellite communications, 2) possibly neutralize some US military moves in Greenland, or even 3) a place to also launch an attack against the US, Canada, and/or even the UK. The Bible teaches about a great power who will be destroyed by its friends, who become enemies (Lamentations 1:1-2)—some statements by Donald Trump are pushing “friends” (NATO allies) into being enemies. …
Historically, many powerful civilizations were destroyed through economic, military, health and moral decline. Will alliances like NATO remain helpful through these difficulties? At least 22 predictions/warnings I made about the first Donald Trump Administration were totally or at least partially fulfilled during his first term in office. … (p. 6)

Furthermore, at a conference in 2025, Herr Guttenberg referred to “bully Trump” and said Europe needed to be achieve an independent military defense so that it no longer needs to dependent on the USA (Winkler T. Geeint gegen den “Bully Trump.” MeinBezirk, January 9, 2025). An unintended consequence of Donald Trump’s presidency may be the rise of Barron Guttenberg. (p. 56)
Now, another reality is that there are many in Europe that wanted Donald Trump to win the 2024 election as they believe that will help motivate Europe to arm itself and become more independent of the USA (p. 58)
Many in the USA do not seem to realize that once Europeans are spending more for their militaries, they will also expect to have more independence from the USA as to how military might will be used. (p. 63) …
The USA will be attacked by “friends” consistent with the following:
1 How lonely sits the city
That was full of people!
How like a widow is she,
Who was great among the nations!
The princess among the provinces Has become a slave!
2 She weeps bitterly in the night,
Her tears are on her cheeks;
Among all her lovers
She has none to comfort her.
All her friends have dealt treacherously with her;
They have become her enemies. cf. Lamentations 1:1-2).
Notice the one who was “great among the nations” will be conquered by friends, who will become enemies.
The USA was prophesied to be “great” in Genesis 48:19 and is considered by international sources to be great among the nations of the world today.

The morning after his reelection, I wrote:

One of the unintended consequences of Donald Trump’s threats of tariffs and other trade matters is that it is motivating nations he has threatened to look to trade more with each other.

Pushing tariffs and other policies that foreign nations do not like is contributing to other nations looking to bypass the USA dollar, as well as trade more with each other and less with the USA. This will further push various globalist’s moves forward without the USA. This is also helping set the stage for the coming European Babylonian Beast to dominate international trade.

The Trump Administration continues to push European friends away.

Yes, one day US allies will become enemies and eliminate the US (cf. Daniel 11:39; Habakkuk 2:6-8; Isaiah 10:5-11).

Lula said the raid set “an extremely dangerous precedent.” Sheinbaum warned it “jeopardizes regional stability.” Boric said it “violated an essential pillar of international law.” Petro called it “aggression against the sovereignty of Venezuela and of Latin America.”
