The deadly flaw of the Iran deal

As I read the terms of the proposed deal, whether true or not, my heart breaks because the outcome of the deal will be deadly. There are truly no good terms of the deal being reported, but as much as the terms are bad, the most deadly part is the deal itself.
Unfortunately, any deal will be dead on arrival. I spent most of my life living under the Islamic Republic, and most of my last year in Iran in Tehran’s notorious Evin Prison under threat of a death penalty and being executed at any moment. My “crime?” Converting to Christianity. Not very enlightened to say the least from a regime in control of the lives of 90 million Iranians, and threatening hundreds of millions more. As much as they tried to force me to deny my faith, I would not bend. That is how you make a deal with the Islamists, not by negotiating. By defeating them. Today I am blessed to live freely in the United States and proudly as an American citizen. In America I celebrate unparalleled freedom, the kind of freedom for which 90 million Iranians have sacrificed so much, only to be shot down literally by the evil and brutal Islamist regime.
As nice as it sounds – that the Islamic Republic regime may commit on paper to give up all their nuclear material and never have nuclear weapons – having lived under the regime and suffered its misogyny, seeing my friends and loved ones, including my husband, tortured and executed, I know that no deal they put their name to will ever be honored. I know that before the ink dries they will be plotting their next move with the ultimate goal of hastening their extremist Islamic takeover of the world, the destruction of the United States, Israel and the West – from the outside and from within. I know they will dig their nuclear facilities deeper under the vast Iranian mountain ranges to conceal their intentions and the ability to get to the weapons themselves.
While President Trump may indeed be the master of the deal, I know no deal they sign will ever be honored. That is the first deadly flaw of the deal: To think these are rational actors and will approach any deal in a way that is honorable or sincere is mistaken.

The Iranian leadership are Shi’ite Muslims. They have long considered that the USA is the “Great Satan” (see https://www.cbsnews.com/news/iranian-guard-chief-us-still-the-great-satan/).

They promote the belief that they must cause enough chaos in the world that one in “suspended animation” will gain full consciousness and be the Imam Mahdi who will lead the Shi’ites to basically conquer the world. Shi’ite Differences
Islam is divided into basically three pieces, with Sunni Muslims being the majority, with Shi’ite Muslims being the next large group, and a third smaller group knows as Sufis (who often are considered as a type of Sunni Muslim). Shi’ite Muslims tend to be considered, overall, stricter Muslims than the other groups.
The nation with the most Shi’ite Muslims is Iran. Consider also:
Shi’a Islam is distinguished from Sunni Islam mainly in its interpretation of the role of the imam in the Islamic social order. The essential distinction between Shi’a and Sunni Islam is the doctrine of the imamate, which is essential for all Shi’a.
The Shi’a believe that the human race needs divinely guided leaders and teachers, who are the imams who continue the mission of the prophets in every respect, except bringing new scriptures. The imams are endowed with ‘isma, i.e., immunity from sin and error in order to fulfill their divine mission. All Shi’a believe that without the imams the world would cease to exist, …
The imams are not only the religious teachers, they also have an eschatological significance, for they can intercede for believers on Judgment Day. Therefore, knowing the imam is necessary for salvation. This point is especially emphasized by the messianic belief in the hidden imam, Muhammad al-Muntazar al-Mahdi, who is alive and in occultation. Beginning in 872 a.d. and during the minor occultation the imam would communicate with his followers through four direct representatives from among them. Since 941, he has been in major occultation and will only reappear when the world is filled with injustice and oppression in order to establish justice and to prepare the second coming of Christ.[i]
The Shi’ites claim descent though Muhammad’s cousin Ali, whom they consider to have been a great early Imam (an Islamic leader) and then through the twelfth Imam, Muhammad al-Muntazar al-Mahdi—who they claim is still alive. Some have suggested he is in some type of suspended animation, usually called “major occultation” of the “Hidden Imam” (occultation means hidden) until he officially returns to rule.
Because of Shiite views of imams, some Sunni’s consider that Shiites are idolators and polytheists. In 2024, the Sunni-connected group ISIS went so far to set off bombs in Iran to kill Shiites, that they referred to as “polytheists.” [ii]
It should be mentioned that another of the differences between the Sunni and Shi’ite Muslims is that most Shi’ites strongly believe that their great leader will rise up, help destroy the West, and ultimately force everyone to become Muslim or die.

Regarding the background and appearance of the Imam Mahdi here are some Islamic assertions:
Mahdī has been described in detail. He will have brown eyes, teeth of extreme whiteness, a beauty mark on his cheek, and will be born in Madīnah of a slave-girl. There has been some controversy as regards the place of his appearance, but Morocco, Kufah, and Damascus are mentioned among the possible places. [iii]
In traditions from the Prophet (peace be It is generally believed that the Mahdi will appear at a time of anarchy and chaos that will precede the end of the world.[iv]
Should the Madhi also be the biblical ‘King of the South,’ he might arise instead from Egypt or the Arab peninsula or elsewhere in the Middle East.

Getting back to the article by Marziyeh Amirizadeh, while the USA itself does not have a history of being trustworthy with treaties, consider the following from Muhammad ibn Isma’il al-Bukhari, one of the most influential scholars in Sunni Islam:

Bukhari 3,49,857 Muhammad said, “A man who brings peace to the people by making up good words or by saying nice things, though untrue, does not lie.”
Bukhari 4,52,267 Muhammad cried out, “Jihad is deceit.”
Bukhari 5,59,369 Bin Maslama volunteered to kill an enemy for Muhammad, then said, “Give me permission to deceive him with lies so that my plot will succeed.” Muhammad replied, “You may speak falsely to him.”

Murder and bearing false witness are wrong and in violation of the Ten Commandments (see also The Ten Commandments Reflect Love, Breaking them is Evil). Though a Sunni scholar, Muhammad ibn Isma’il al-Bukhari was also a Persian, what we now call an Iranian:

These prophetic traditions, or hadith, were collected by the Persian Muslim scholar Muhammad al-Bukhari, after being transmitted orally for generations. In other words, trusted collections of Islamic written traditions say that Muslims should lie and kill.

So, no, I do not have a lot of confidence is deals that the Iranian leadership makes.

Particularly because I believe that the Bible shows that Iran will lead a confederation that will cause great damage to Jerusalem (Isaiah 22:1-14).
