Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan sign military alliance–another ‘King of the South’ step?

One of the ‘unintended consequences’ of the USA-Iran war has been to push various Sunni Muslim nations to form closer defense alliances. A new one was announced today:

Trilateral Defence Pact Amid Escalating Regional Tensions

By Timour Azhari, Ariba Shahid and Tuvan Gumrukcu

RIYADH/KARACHI/ANKARA, Aug 7 – Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkey signed a joint defence agreement in Mecca on Friday, wedding Sunni Muslim U.S. allies alarmed at a regional conflagration that has rained missile fire onto Gulf oil exporters. https://www.globalbankingandfinance.com/saudi-arabia-turkey-pakistan-sign-joint-defence-deal-amid/

Turkey, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia sign defense pact in Mecca

7 August 2026

TurkeyPakistan and Saudi Arabia sealed a historic defense pact on Friday, signing an agreement “intended to strengthen collective deterrence against any act of aggression.”

“The Makkah Joint Defense Agreement,” read a joint statement, reflects “a shared commitment to further strengthening collective security.”

A Turkish official cited by Reuters said the agreement was purely defensive in nature and open to any regional neighbors who might want to sign on. https://www.dw.com/en/middle-east-saudi-arabia-turkey-pakistan-sign-defense-deal/live-78272895

Notice that others in the region are welcome to join this.

Getting Pakistan involved is not a surprise.

Since January of 2010, I have posted that Saudi Arabia expressed interest in getting nuclear weapons or at least nuclear protection from Pakistan (see Pakistan’s Nuclear Weapons, Saudi Arabia, and the King of the South).

Here also is something from my article India, Its Biblical Past and Future: Any Witness?:

What about Pakistan?

As an Islamic nation, and since some of the descendants of Phut are shown as part of a failed confederation involving Egypt in Ezekiel 30:1-9 and this appears to be an Islamic confederation, it is likely that Pakistan, to a degree, may support the King of the South in Daniel 11:40–though probably not too closely. That will be a mistake. Pakistan may actually directly or indirectly temporarily support the final King of the South to the point that it may even provide some nuclear support (see Pakistan’s Nuclear Weapons, Saudi Arabia, and the King of the South).

Several years ago, Saudi Arabia announced an Islamic military confederation consisting of nations in the Middle East and North Africa, and without Iran (see ‘Saudi Arabia Announces 34-Nation Islamic Alliance Against Terrorism’ to Protect the ‘Islamic Nation’: Is the King of the South starting to form?). In November 2017, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia indicated he wanted more such military cooperation on ‘terrorists’ (see Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Salman pushing King of the South?)–which some Sunni leaders blame Shi’ite Iran for.

Notice a warning posted here back in 2018:

Iranian ambitions are pushing many Sunni Muslim dominated nations towards a military coalition that will be led by the final King of the South. (Thiel B. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman says Saudi Arabia will develop a nuclear bomb if Iran gets one. COGwriter, March 15, 2018)

In 2025, I expanded that as follows:

Iranian ambitions, as well as certain actions and policies of the USA and Israel, have been pushing many Sunni Muslim dominated nations towards a military coalition that will be led by the final King of the South. (Thiel B. Saudi Arabia and Pakistan conclude a military deal that looks to encompass nuclear weapons, Turks,. COGwriter, September 19, 2025)

We are seeing steps this way right now!

Biblically, a military force of Arabs and others is inevitable. The force will be led by one called the King of the South in Bible prophecy:

40 “At the time of the end, the king of the south shall attack him, but the king of the north shall rush upon him like a whirlwind, with chariots and horsemen, and with many ships. And he shall come into countries and shall overflow and pass through. 41 He shall come into the glorious land. And tens of thousands shall fall, but these shall be delivered out of his hand: Edom and Moab and the main part of the Ammonites. 42 He shall stretch out his hand against the countries, and the land of Egypt shall not escape. 43 He shall become ruler of the treasures of gold and of silver, and all the precious things of Egypt, and the Libyans and the Cushites shall follow in his train. (Daniel 11:40-43, ESV)

The peoples listed above are mainly located in North Africa and the Middle East–and 12 of them signed a naval coalition agreement yesterday (see Saudi Arabian general appointed head of a multinational military confederation: Another step towards the ‘King of the South’?). They are in Muslim-dominated lands and include the Arabs and some of the Turks. Cushites, interestingly enough, may include some in Pakistan.

Regarding a coming coalition of Sunni-Muslim dominated nations, here are some excerpts from my free eBook Islamic and Biblical Prophecies for the 21st Century:

2016 saw the world’s largest military exercise (called North Thunder) composed of 20, basically Sunni-Muslim, nations,[i] which are consistent with the peoples prophesied to get together later (Daniel 11:40-43; Ezekiel 30:2-8). …

It should also be noted that some Sunni groups want a Caliph to arise and rule an Islamic caliphate that includes all the territory from north-west Africa through the Middle East and even further east.[ii]

It should be pointed out that the Muslim Brotherhood wants a confederation of lands consistent with those that will be dominated by the coming King of the South:

What is the Muslim Brotherhood?

The world’s largest and most influential Islamist movement. Founded in Egypt in 1928, the group was originally focused on ridding the country of corrupting secular influences brought by British colonial rule. Over the years, it established branches and affiliates in many countries to promote traditional Sunni Islamic morals, social justice, and the eradication of poverty and corruption. “The Islamic nation,” its charter states, “must be fully prepared to fight the tyrants and the enemies of Allah as a prelude to establishing an Islamic state”—ideally a re-established caliphate, stretching from Spain across the Middle East and Central Asia to Indonesia, to be governed according to Islamic sharia law.[iii]

While it will not end up with Spain, and how far east its rule will extend can be debated, some type of confederation of Islamic lands in the Middle East and North Africa will form.

Let me also add, that the Greek Orthodox scholar, Dr. Helen Tzima Otto, wrote of a vision a Dervish had in the 17th century that Arab and other Muslims would fight against the “Christian” Europeans, [iv] which sounds a lot like what is prophesied to happen in Daniel 11:40-43. She then wrote related to that:

WWIII … will be a concerted Islamic attack against the ‘West’, namely … the invasion of Europe from North Africa, the Near East and probably Central Asia, [v]

And while that is not WWIII, it may be considered something like that to the Muslim world.

While the actual King of the South has not sufficiently risen up at this time, steps to support the confederation he will lead are happening.
