Interpreting Russia’s Position Towards The Islamic NATO

October 8, 2026

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov opined in early September on his country’s position towards the Islamic NATO in response to a question about the role that Russia could play in restoring stability to West Asia. He began by referencing Russia’s over-two-decade-old collective security vision for the Gulf, which he also brought up earlier this spring during the Third Gulf War, since it’s an enduring part of its regional policy. Lavrov then said that the latest conflict imbued this concept with a fresh sense of urgency.

It was in this context that he mentioned the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement and added that “Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye, which formulated that concept of collective security and a defence alliance, have pointed out that it is also open to other countries.” He then declared that “At some stage, provided this structure also coordinates conditions on which Iran could be involved in this process, it could become the best concrete step in the direction of the concept we formulated.”

Seeing as how Lavrov earlier said that “Russia’s role in any part of the world…has always been in supporting what the concerned countries are ready to coordinate”, it can be assessed that his country’s position towards the Islamic NATO is officially positive. This is especially so as regards the possibility of Iran joining the bloc, though observers should remember that its three founding states are all tied to NATO, with Turkiye being a member while Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are “Major Non-NATO Allies”.

For that reason, it was recently argued that “The Islamic NATO Could Indeed Pose A Challenge To Russia” in response to Valdai Club Programme Director Timofey Bordachev article about “Why the Mecca alliance may work in Russia’s favor“. In particular, Turkiye is poised to lead the expansion of NATO influence into Central Asia through August 2025’s “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity“, Pakistan already helps terrorists and arms enter Afghanistan, and Saudi Arabia might bankroll all of this. https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/interpreting-russias-position-towards-islamic-nato

Well, something like an Islamic NATO will form according to biblical prophecies.

The fact that many in Europe, the USA, and even Russia appear supportive of it, will likely assist in it actually forming.

The late Radio/Worldwide Church of God evangelist Raymond McNair (who was also once part of the old Global Church of God) wrote:

Daniel 11 also mentions some of the Mideast peoples who will be involved in that struggle among the nations at the close of this age. The belligerents will include the “King of the North,” the leader of the European Union (or its final outgrowth, called the “Beast”). The “King of the South” (an Islamic leader—apparently from Egypt {or} some other Muslim state) is also referred to. The following lands/peoples are specifically mentioned: Egypt, the Holy Land (Israel/Palestine), the Ethiopians (modern Cushites, south of Egypt), Libya, Edom, Moab and Ammon. Many descendants of the ancient peoples known as Edomites or Idumeans now live in the West Bank, Jordan, Iraq, Turkey, Syria, Arabia, Yemen, the Persian Gulf states, etc. (McNair R. Solving the Arab-Israeli Impasse! Copyright Raymond F. McNair 2005, Church of God—21st Century).

Notice that Raymond McNair realizes that Egypt or some other Muslim country is where the king of the South will come from and that the term translated as Ethiopians really means the Cushite peoples who live in southern Egypt, Sudan, as well as elsewhere, like Pakistan.

Islamic NATO? The King of the South?

On August 6, 2026, 14 Sunni Muslim nations agreed to be part of a naval confederation. The next day, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan announced they signed to be part of the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement. Leaders from Turkey and Pakistan announced that more nations in the region are welcome to join this Mecca Alliance. Because of certain provisions in it, a government official from Turkey as well as various commentators have pointed to this agreement as a possible Islamic NATO. The idea of this being a Muslim NATO looks to have been endorsed by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation which welcomed that trilateral defence pact between Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan as a “historic” and strategically significant step for the security of the wider Muslim world. But could these military arrangements be consistent with biblical prophecies? If you are a student of the Bible, you may be aware of someone referred to as ‘the King of the South’ in Bible prophecy. Most the nations that have agreed to be part of these military arrangements are in lands that the Bible shows will support the coming King of the South. This leader will lead a confederation of peoples from the Middle East and North Africa–and leaders of a dozen nations in that region are part of one or more of the agreements announced in August 2026. Back in 2018, Dr. Thiel told of a coming ‘Arab NATO’ with support from Turkey. Are we now seeing this being formed? The Bible says that “the king of the South shall be stirred up to battle with a very great and mighty army” (Daniel 11:25). With 1.4 million troops part of the Mecca agreement and other nations expected to support it, such as very great army will relatively soon be formed. Turkey said that Egypt, which has been working towards a type of Sunni Muslim military alliance, is expected to join the Mecca agreement. Could an Egyptian be the man who will become the final King of the South of biblical prophecies? And as a student of the Bible, do you know who the King of the South goes to war against? If you don’t know he goes to war against, you won’t be able to understand how current world events are fulfilling Biblical prophecy right before our eyes. Did Dr. Thiel warn that the King of the South would arise after military actions against Iran? Is Israel concerned about these Islamic military agreements? Can you see that the foundations for the confederacy of the kingdom of the King of the South is forming right now? Watch this video as Dr. Thiel shines the light of Biblical truth on the identity of the King of the South, the countries of his kingdom, and who the rival king is that he goes to war with in the not-too-distant future.

Biblical prophecies are coming to pass.

Remember the Apostle Paul warned Christians:

20 Do not despise prophecies. (1 Thessalonians 5:20)

We in the Continuing Church of God are striving to “Watch” as Jesus told His followers to do (Mark 13:37) and report as a watchman like God told Ezekiel to do (Ezekiel 3:16-21, 33:1-9; watch also Who is your watchman?).
