12 Signs That The Relentless Decline Of Our Society Is Accelerating

April 22, 2026

For more than a decade and a half, I have been writing about the decline of our society. Sadly, over that period of time there has been an inexorable deterioration of our culture. We no longer agree on a generally accepted set of moral values, all of our major institutions are crumbling, and chaos reigns in the streets. Every single day I see more indications that conditions are getting even worse. I always hoped that by exposing what was really going on out there that it would inspire people to push for change. But instead, conditions just keep degenerating year after year. …

#1 So far in 2026, there have been 116 mass shootings in the United States. Unfortunately, we are 36 percent ahead of last year’s blistering pace. …

#2 If it seems like there are crazy people everywhere around you, that is because there really are crazy people everywhere around you. …

Authorities keep insisting that crime is under control, but we continue to see spectacular crimes being committed all over the nation. Earlier this week, two men in Philadelphia pulled off an armored truck heist that could have been pulled directly out of a CBS crime drama…

#6 All over America, wild packs of young people are conducting “street takeovers” late at night. Unfortunately, this is even happening in some of our wealthiest neighborhoods

Madness descended on an upscale Washington DC neighborhood again after a large mob of unhinged teens took over.

On Saturday night, a rowdy group of teenagers spilled into Navy Yard, a ritzy and trendy neighborhood in the US Capital, while people dined out and tried to enjoy their evening.

A massive crowd was seen running through the middle of a busy intersection, with some on foot and others riding bikes, in a video posted to X by investigator Elissa De Souza.

#7 Over the past several decades, millions of Muslims have immigrated to the United States, and their young people are also engaging in the “street takeover” trend

#8 I don’t have to tell you that sexual promiscuity is absolutely rampant in our society, because it is obvious to everyone. In Minneapolis, officials intend to legalize public sex in bathhouses because the gay Somali community has been clamoring for them to do it…

#11 I keep hearing about a resurgence of religion in this country, but a Gallup survey has found that the percentage of Americans with no religion at all has reached a new record high

#12 George Barna is one of my all-time favorite pollsters, and he recently conducted a survey that discovered that only 1 percent of Generation Z has a biblical worldview…

A recent survey of American adults found that despite a surge of interest in Christianity and church attendance in the months since Charlie Kirk’s assassination, the number of people who adhere to a biblical worldview remains critically low, including just 1% of Gen Z.

Conducted in January by Arizona Christian University’s Cultural Research Center under the guidance of researcher George Barna, the latest installment of the American Worldview Inventory asked 2,000 American adults a series of 53 questions to discern if they live consistently with a biblical worldview.

The young adults of today will be the leaders of tomorrow.

So what would our society look like with them in charge?

All throughout human history, great societies have risen and great societies have fallen. https://endoftheamericandream.com/12-signs-that-the-relentless-decline-of-our-society-is-accelerating/

Yes, we are seeing societal decline.

Notice number 2 of my list of 26 items to prophetically watch in 2026:

2. Morality Prophecies Being Fulfilled

Some morality prophecies that were certainly being fulfilled in 2025 (and will also be in 2026) include something that the Apostle Paul wrote to the prophetic-evangelist Timothy:

1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! (2 Timothy 3:1-5, NKJV)

As far as blasphemy and boasting goes, the main media pushes the notion that actually believing the Bible makes one a ‘hater’ and a ‘right wing extremist’. It also pushes that abominable acts are love.

Paul also wrote:

13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; (2 Timothy 3:13-14, KJV)

We see this related to deceivers being fulfilled by politicians, media experts, academia, and even with scientists. Like so-called scientists pushing aspects of evolution instead of creation, as people like the Bill Nye, who calls himself the ‘Science Guy’ (see also our free booklet, online at www.ccog.org, titled: Is God’s Existence Logical?).

Jesus said the following in an end-time prophecy:

12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. (Matthew 24:12)

Various ones have urged people to go into grocery stores and simply take foods because of not receiving government subsidies. Others have called for the harassing of government immigration police in 2025.

We will see more lawlessness in 2026.

Consider also some of item 3 from my list of 26 items to prophetically watch in 2026:

3. Media, Internet, and Other Censorship …

The Apostle Paul warned “against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness” (Romans 1:18).

Furthermore, because of things like the LGBTQ agenda, we are seeing more pressure to control the internet and to reduce biblical speech (watch Internet Control, Famine of the Word, and 666).

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man — and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things. 24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, 25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. 26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. 28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, 30 backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; 32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them. (Romans 1:18-32)

Notice that the Bible teaches that even approving of forms of sexual immorality is wrong. …

The labeling of things as ‘extremism’ is gaining so much traction that those that do it seem to think that it is normal to label whatever they are not comfortable with as extreme.

Expect more people who hold to biblically-proper views to be categorized as extremists by more in the media and society.

Even connecting world events to biblical prophetic writings has triggered censorship. …

Furthermore, notice that the Bible teaches:

1 Cry aloud, spare not; Lift up your voice like a trumpet; Tell My people their transgression, And the house of Jacob their sins. (Isaiah 58:1)

Yet, if some are insulted because their sins are called out, various ones want to stifle religious speech and call it hate speech! …

As far as censorship goes, expect more.

We also are in a world where more want to censor what the word of God and certain teachings that a prophet of God would speak. Notice what the prophet Isaiah was inspired to write:

8 Now go, write it before them on a tablet,
And note it on a scroll,
That it may be for time to come,
Forever and ever:
9 That this is a rebellious people,
Lying children,
Children who will not hear the law of the Lord;
10 Who say to the seers, “Do not see,”
And to the prophets, “Do not prophesy to us right things;
Speak to us smooth things, prophesy deceits.
11 Get out of the way,
Turn aside from the path,
Cause the Holy One of Israel
To cease from before us.”

12 Therefore thus says the Holy One of Israel:

“Because you despise this word,
And trust in oppression and perversity,
And rely on them,
13 Therefore this iniquity shall be to you
Like a breach ready to fall,
A bulge in a high wall,
Whose breaking comes suddenly, in an instant.
14 And He shall break it like the breaking of the potter’s vessel,
Which is broken in pieces;
He shall not spare. (Isaiah 30:8-14)

Yes, the decline of society and increased despising of the word of God will end in destruction.

And while the USA will fall, so eventually will the coming European Beast power that will also despise God’s commandments.
