Trump-Endorsed Nationalist Narrowly Wins Polish Presidential Election

June 2, 2025

In Poland’s extraordinarily tight and closely-watched presidential run-off election, a staunch nationalist conservative on Sunday defeated a pro-EU liberal in an outcome that promises economic and geopolitical implications. With 100% of the precincts reporting, conservative historian Karol Nawrocki had 50.9% of the votes, compared to 49.1% for leftist Warsaw Mayor Rafal Trzaskowski, who prematurely declared victory on Sunday evening after the first exit polls showed him at 50.3%.

Among the key issues in the election were immigration, abortion, support for Ukraine, and Polish integration with the rest of Europe. When he takes office on August 6, Nawrocki — a former boxer who leads the Institute for National Remembrance — will succeed term-limited President Andrzej Duda. Like Nawrocki, Duda is associated with the right-wing Law and Justice (PiS) party.

Before the final tally, Nawrocki was optimistic, saying “I believe we will all wake up tomorrow morning with President Nawrocki putting the broken Poland back together.” He also quoted the Bible, saying God would “heal the land” of good people who “turn away from wicked ways.

Voicing Poland-first sentiments, Nawrocki previously said:

“We cannot afford actions that harm our economy, agriculture, people’s wallets or the functioning of our social welfare systems. All decisions regarding the future of our good economic and political cooperation, including with Ukraine, will be based solely on the interests of Poland and Poles.”

He has also warned against Ukrainian accession to NATO anytime soon, saying “It would be dangerous for Ukraine to be allowed into NATO as it would mean that the whole of the alliance would straight away be in a war with Russia.” He also said “The discussion about Ukraine’s entry to NATO is pointless…[Given its corruption], the Ukrainian state is not ready for many processes.” However, he’s also said, “we will continue, when I become president, to support Ukraine in the face of the Russian Federation’s threat, which is also hostile to us. That is self-evident.”  …

President Trump endorsed Nawrocki, welcoming him to the White House in May and dispatching Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to a May 27 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) meeting in Warsaw where she implored Poles to put Nawrocki in office: “I just had the opportunity to meet with Karol and listen — he needs to be the next president of Poland. Do you understand me?” Noem also trashed Trzaskowski as “an absolute train wreck of a leader.”  …

Nawrocki’s victory comes amid a string of elections across Europe pitting EU- and NATO-catering leftists against conservative nationalists. In mid-May, nationalist Romanian presidential candidate George Simion lost to centrist Bucharest mayor Nicusor Dan, following an election saga that saw the leading nationalist candidate banned from running and arrested. Simion endorsed Poland’s Nawrocki, as did nationalist Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban. Upcoming contests of note include Norway’s parliamentary elections on Sept. 8, Italy’s regional elections on Sept. 21-22, and Moldova’s parliamentary races on Sept. 28. www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/trump-endorsed-nationalist-narrowly-wins-polish-presidential-election

However, many of the powers that be in the EU were not pleased with the election results in Poland:

Presidential election outcome a blow to Poland’s government

2 June 2025

Right-wing conservative historian and euroskeptic Karol Nawrocki has won the Polish presidential runoff by a whisker. The result is a bitter blow for Donald Tusk’s pro-European government. …

“We won because we were right,” added PiS leader Jaroslaw Kaczynski. …

Trzaskowski was the candidate of the liberal-conservative Civic Platform (PO) of Prime Minister Donald Tusk. The 53-year-old mayor of Warsaw was also backed by other parties in the ruling coalition, the Third Way (TD) and the New Left.

His surprising defeat is a major blow for Tusk’s government. https://www.dw.com/en/presidential-election-outcome-a-blow-to-polands-government/a-72758575

Although most day-to-day power lies in Poland lies with the prime minister, Donald Tusk, the president is able to influence foreign policy and, crucially, veto legislation.

Tusk, who came to power in late 2023 with a coalition government with a broad ideological divide, has been unable to muster enough support to fulfill certain electoral promises such as easing abortion law.

He is expected to face further obstacles with Nawrocki as president. https://www.euronews.com/my-europe/2025/06/01/trzaskowski-marginally-ahead-in-polish-elections-first-exit-polls-but-race-still-close-to-

The election results are consistent with a trend in Europe to move more towards the right. Here are two reports about what happened a couple of weeks ago:

EU elections Super Sunday shows centre-left parties remain in freefall

20 May 2025

Experts told Euronews that centre-left parties are losing connection to voters across the continent in a period of time when social issues are pressing.

European leaders have been quick to congratulate centrist Nicusor Dan on Sunday’s dramatic victory in Romania’s presidential election over his hard-right rival George Simion.

Dan won 53.6% of the vote, ahead of Simion, who during the campaign portrayed his movement as championing nationalist values and conservative policies similar to those of US President Donald Trump. …

Jean-Michel De Waele, a political scientist at the ULB University in Brussels, told Euronews that only time will tell if this proves a setback for European nationalists, but stressed that leaders cannot ignore the anger of the anti-establishment voters.

“There are many problems to be solved. And the citizens of the European Union in this part (of Europe) are not convinced by the EU,” he said.

“After all, 46% of Romanian citizens voted for Simion. So the EU can rejoice, but it must not forget and must not say: ‘We understood the message, we will change the communication. Business as usual’.” …

In Poland, pro-European candidate Rafał Trzaskowski won the first round, ahead of conservative Karol Nawrocki. The pair will face each other in a runoff on 1 June.

In Portugal, the ruling centre-right AD alliance won snap parliamentary elections yet fell short of a majority, while the far-right Chega made record gains. Meanwhile, the left-leaning PS lost 20 seats in parliament, resulting in the resignation of party leader Pedro Nuno Santo.

The traditional left-wing parties were in free fall in all three elections.  …

De Waele believes that the crisis of leadership is one cause of the turn many voters towards action-oriented leaders.

“I think citizens are demanding concrete policies, and governments are taking strong positions. That’s also why … Trump is so successful. He’s this kind of very virile, very strong populist leader.” https://www.euronews.com/my-europe/2025/05/20/eu-elections-super-sunday-shows-centre-left-parties-remain-in-freefall

Romania, Poland, Portugal election results: Who are the winners and losers?

Pro-EU forces prevail on electoral ‘super Sunday’, but far right gains ground.

Millions of voters across three European countries cast their ballots in an electoral “super Sunday” over the weekend amid fears of far-right gains, particularly in Romania and Poland. However, the centrists held their ground in the two European Union and NATO member nations bordering war-torn Ukraine, providing a boost to the West.

Portugal’s centre-right governing party also secured a parliamentary win, but the far right made record gains. … while the centre is holding for now, far-right populist forces continue to grow in all three countries, the latest in a string of far-right surges in Europe.

Last summer, EU elections witnessed a clear turn to the right in the European Parliament, shaking up governments across the 27-member bloc and leaving mainstream political parties at a crossroads. Despite “super Sunday” results, eurosceptic parties continue to garner support. …

Romania’s presidential election concluded with a clear victory for centrist candidate Nicusor Dan, who secured 54 percent of the vote against nationalist rival George Simion’s 46 percent. …

Coming on the heels of the annulment of a previous vote in December, due to alleged Russian interference, the stakes of Sunday’s election were very high.

Many saw the contest as a referendum on Romania’s future political direction and its role within the EU and NATO. https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2025/5/19/romania-poland-portugal-election-results-who-are-the-winners-and-losers

The increases in ‘right-wing’ supporting voters shows that a shift is going on in Europe. Part of that is because of the ‘Trump effect.’

However, trade matters will also change because of Donald Trump’s statements and policies. Consider the following from the EU:

2 June 2025

After the US president announced he would raise tariffs on aluminium and steel from 25% to 50%, a deal between the EU and the US is unlikely to be reached within the 90-day period set by Trump, according to Ignacio García Bercero, a former senior EU official and expert at the Bruegel think tank.

Brussels and Washington have little chance of breaking the trade deadlock they have been in since mid-March and the imposition of the first US tariffs on steel and aluminium, Ignacio García Bercero, a former senior EU official and expert of the Bruegel think tank, told Euronews.

“It seems to me very clear that if the US is not ready to take action to substantially mitigate the impact of the tariffs on steel, aluminium and cars. I don’t really see how it is going to be possible to reach any kind of negotiated agreement,” García Bercero said.

“The increase of US tariffs on steel and aluminium from 25% to 50% hardens the position of the US, which is the only country capable of deciding how to end the crisis.” https://www.euronews.com/my-europe/2025/06/02/chances-of-resolving-us-eu-trade-dispute-over-tariffs-remain-slim-expert-says

Europe clearly believes that the USA is the entire problem here and it is frustrated by the Trump Administration. This, ultimately, will not end well for the USA (cf. Daniel 11:39; Lamentations 1:1-2; Isiah 10:5-11).

That said, Europe will change.

It will shift so much that its government will change massively from what we have seen.

The Bible shows that a major reorganization is prophesied to happen and push Europe under totalitarian control:

12 “The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. (Revelation 17:12-13)

Economic issues, migrant matters, and citizens moving more to ‘the right’ look to be factors that will get Europe to decide to reorganize and support a dictator that the Bible calls the Beast.

Biblical prophecies will come to pass.

Things will NOT continue as they have been.
