Finally, the penny seemed to have dropped. The US is no longer the friend and trusted ally it once was.
For some, this realization has been a long time coming, given warning signs from the first days of this latest Trump administration.
“The transatlantic relations have definitely taken a big blow over the last week,” EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said Thursday.
For former EU Council chief Charles Michel, it’s even starker: the transatlantic relationship “as we’ve known it for decades is dead,” he told CNN. …
Faced with Trump’s ambitions, the choice for Europe was stark: defiance or subservience.
“Appeasement means no results, only humiliation,” Poland’s Tusk said this week, while Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever in Davos spoke of preferring being a “happy vassal” to a “miserable slave” of the US.
Discussions with EU diplomats highlighted how Europeans have finally coalesced around a need for independence from the whims of the White House, especially on matters of defense. …

Scaring the Europeans to spend more on military matters will not end well for the US per Daniel 11:39 and Isaiah 10:5-11.

Donald Trump’s foreign policy statements have unsettled many—in the USA as well as foreign nations. He is believed by many to be more unpredictable than Richard Nixon. Many have rightly pointed out that he often acts as a bully.
The USA will be attacked by “friends” consistent with the following:
1 How lonely sits the city
That was full of people!
How like a widow is she,
Who was great among the nations!
The princess among the provinces Has become a slave!
2 She weeps bitterly in the night,
Her tears are on her cheeks;
Among all her lovers
She has none to comfort her.
All her friends have dealt treacherously with her;
They have become her enemies. cf. Lamentations 1:1-2).
Notice the one who was “great among the nations” will be conquered by friends, who will become enemies.
The USA was prophesied to be “great” in Genesis 48:19 and is considered by international sources to be great among the nations of the world today.

Yes, the Bible teaches about a great power who will be destroyed by its friends, who become enemies (Lamentations 1:1-2). Donald Trump offending the Europeans is leading to that.

On Tuesday at the Davos forum, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent ridiculed the idea that Europe might retaliate against Donald Trump’s expansionist ambitions in Greenland by selling U.S. sovereign bonds. He said the notion “defies any logic,” although the market seems to have taken note of the possibility, triggering a selling wave that exposes the vulnerabilities of the world’s largest economy: its high debt and the imbalance of its public accounts.

European investors hold substantial U.S. debt: the United Kingdom $800 billion; Belgium $399 billion; Luxembourg $328 billion; Switzerland $243 billion; and Norway $218 billion. A halt in European purchases of U.S. sovereign bonds would be unthinkable and could trigger a global financial collapse. U.S. Treasury bonds are the global benchmark in capital markets, where governments and corporations issue debt in dollars, and the greenback is the currency in which over half of world trade is conducted, including gold and oil payments. Yet Trump’s policies are accelerating investors’ disinterest in the dollar and U.S. sovereign bonds, following straightforward financial logic rather than any political retaliation.
On Tuesday, the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury approached 4.3%, the highest since August, while the 30-year yield neared 5%, a level that could trigger stock market corrections and alarms among bond watchers. “At 5%, U.S. tech valuations are unsustainable,” warns Roberto Scholtes, strategist at Singular Bank. …
Whether motivated by retaliation or financial prudence, analysts agree that a rapid sell-off of U.S. sovereign debt by the EU is unlikely, even though U.S. assets are already losing some appeal in the market. “Europe holds $3.6 trillion in U.S. Treasury bonds, representing just under 40% of all U.S. public debt in foreign hands. The reality is that Europeans are not ready to liquidate all US bonds, but are getting concerned.

In the future, European creditors will rise up against the US consistent with the following prophecy:

6 “Will not all these take up a proverb against him, And a taunting riddle against him, and say, ‘Woe to him who increases What is not his — how long? And to him who loads himself with many pledges’?
7 Will not your creditors rise up suddenly? Will they not awaken who oppress you? And you will become their booty. 8 Because you have plundered many nations, All the remnant of the people shall plunder you, Because of men’s blood And the violence of the land and the city, And of all who dwell in it. (Habakkuk 2:6-8)

The USA is the most indebted nation of all time.

This is a prophecy about what will happen to it.
