From Atonement to Jubilee: Liberation

From Atonement to Jubilee: Liberation
Dr. Bob Thiel

What is the connection between the Day of Atonement and the Jubilee? How often was a Jubilee year to be proclaimed? Has the Jubilee to involve release from debt and bondage? Was the Jubilee part of a land reform system where people would get their ancestral lands back at the 50 year mark, hence give people opportunities to start anew? Have their been economic collapses/crises every 50 or 60 years known as the Kondratieff long wave cycle (or K-wave) that may have happened because the Jubilee was not kept? Where does the Bible tell about the year of Jubilee? Is the actual Hebrew word 'yovel'? What are some things Robert Morton taught about the Jubilee, the 9 days between the Feast of Trumpets and the Day of Atonement, Armageddon, and the return of Jesus, the millennial kingdom of God, and the liberty to be proclaimed? What are some similarities between the Jubilee and the conditions during the millennial kingdom? What about fasting, two goats, Jesus being sacrificed, and God's plan for those called now and those called later? Many have pointed to different years as the start of the Jubilee cycle and when the Jubilee would be in the 21st century. Some asserted that the 'Great Reset' would start in a Jubilee year. The Vatican proclaimed 2025 as a Jubilee year and offered 'plenary indulgences' to reduce punishment (like in a place they call 'Purgatory')--does that make theological sense? The Vatican stated that 2033 would be declared its "jubilee of 2033 will be the Holy Year of Redemption"--is that biblical? If there is a 6000 year plan, could the next biblical Jubilee be in the 2030s? Will liberty and liberation be proclaimed on a Jubilee?

Greetings, friends and brethren. This is Dr. Bob Thiel for the Continuing Church of God. I want to talk about the Day of Atonement and going from Atonement to Jubilee Liberation of Humankind. Back in 1979, a Worldwide Church of God minister who I may or may not have met once by the name of Robert G. Morton gave a sermon called The Jubilee Aspect of Atonement.

I'm going to use some of his materials here, but a lot more Scriptures and a bunch of other things he didn't say, because I'm going to talk about things that have been going on regarding the Jubilee, and perhaps when the Jubilee is going to be. And is there a link between the Jubilee, the Old Testament, the Millennium, the return of Jesus, and what about things like Armageddon, whatever?

Now, the Day of Atonement comes nine days after the Feast of Trumpets. In the Bible, we're told a trumpet is going to be blown on the Day of Atonement to mark a Jubilee year.

So if you've got a Bible, you might want to follow along. I'm going to go to Leviticus 25. I'm going to pick this up in verse 8 and read something about the Jubilee. New King James, as I said, And you shall count seven Sabbaths of years for yourself, seven times seven years, and the time of the seventh Sabbaths of years shall be you forty-nine years.

Then you shall cause the trumpet of Jubilee to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month. On the Day of Atonement you shall make the trumpet to sound throughout all your land. And you shall consecrate the fiftieth year and proclaim liberty throughout all the land to all its inhabitants.

So a proclamation of freedom or liberty is going to happen, or did happen, or was supposed to happen in Old Testament times. Now, the particular type of trumpet that was blown was a shofar, it's a ram's horn.

Now, the position of the Old World by Church of God was that this Jubilee would be blown every 50 years. Now, some Jews think it should have been 49.

But anyway, every 50 years on the Day of Atonement, God instructed that his high priest was supposed to go out there and blow a trumpet. And for people in the land of Israel, that would be very special.

Now, I mentioned Robert Morton, so read some of the things he said about this back in '79. It was a year of excitement. It was a year in which a number of things happened. Interestingly enough, it began on the Day of Atonement. It began with the sounding of trumpets. And this, as far as I know, was the only Day of Atonement the trumpets were sounded. It says, You shall cause the trumpet of Jubilee to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month on the Day of Atonement.

You shall make the trumpet sound throughout all your land. Now, why was it that God chose the Day of Atonement? The beginning of the Jubilee year and decided on that particular day, that fast day, the trumpet should be sounded.

Well, the reason, it was very obvious, And that is because God wanted to draw our minds back to the Feast of Trumpets. There would be something that Christ would start on the Feast of Trumpets that would actually not be complete until the Day of Atonement. And the particular Day of Atonement God had in mind was the day that was represented by the Jubilee Year. In fact, the Jubilee Year and the sounding of this trumpet on the Day of Atonement actually began what was called the year of liberty, the year of freedom.

Now, if you're in Leviticus 25, we can go back to verse 10. And you shall consecrate the 50th year and proclaim it throughout all the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for you, and each of you shall return to his possession. That's like your land, family land. And each shall return to his family. That 50th year shall be a jubilee to you, and you shall neither Sow nor reap what grows in its own accord, nor gather the grapes of your untended vine. For it is the jubilee that shall be holy to you.

You shall leave produce from the field. This is your jubilee. Each of you shall return to his possession.

Now, this wasn't freedom to do anything you wanted to do, but it was a year of liberty and a year of freedom for all Jewish and Israeli bond servants. Now, I'm going to go to Deuteronomy 15, tie something into this, read two verses, then I'm going to come back to Leviticus 25. Deuteronomy 15, starting verse 1. At the end of every seven years, you shall grant a release of debts.

And this is the form of release, every creditor who has lent anything to his neighbor shall release it. He shall not require of it of his neighbor or his brother because it's the Lord's release.

So if you owe anybody money, whatever, for any purpose, no matter what it was, you're released from your debt. Now that happened at the end of seven years and 49 years, hence the beginning of the 50th year cycle.

Now the knowledge of Jubilee year was one way in how they valued property back then. Go to Leviticus 25, Go to verse 14, And if you sell anything to your neighbor or buy it for your neighbor, you cannot oppress one another. According to the number of years after the Jubilee you shall buy your neighbor, and according to the year of crops you shall sell to you.

So basically what happened was farmland, mainly, you could sell it, but at the Jubilee year, it went back to the family that originally had it, so you paid for the land based on how many years crops and stuff you could you can get. And you're not supposed to cheat people, verse 17, You should not oppress one another, but you shall fear the Lord your God. Verse 18, So you shall observe My statutes, keep My judgments, and perform them, and you will dwell in the land safety.

Then the land will yield its fruit, and you will eat your foal and dwell there in safety. Well, what we see happening in verses 17 and 18 sound an awful lot like what's going to happen in the millennium.

Now verse 23, The land shall not be sold permanently, for the land is mine, and you're strangers. So we might think we own something, and God says, Look, I own everything, and I let you people have stuff for some time. And that talks about redeeming a brother who was sold, if he can't redeem himself, to be released in the year of Jubilee.

Now, there were some differences if you continue on here about what happened in cities, those were different than considered the country land. And let's go to Leviticus 27, starting in verse 16. If a man dedicates the Lord part of the of a field of his possession, then your valuations will be according to the seed of it, and they value it based on what crops were worth back then.

But if he dedicates his field after Jubilee, then reckon how many years till the Jubilee to do this. But the field, when it's released in Jubilee, shall be holy to the Lord as a devoted field. And we can read about these kinds of things.

So, what happened, one of the purposes of all this Jubilee stuff from a carnal or physical perspective was, how could I put this? This is that the rich never get richer and the poor always get poorer. Basically, what happened was there were limitations on how land-rich you could become and how land-poor you could become, because every 50 years the land returned back to your family.

So this might, depending on how long you lived, this might happen once in your lifetime, maybe two times. Technically, it could be three times, but you probably wouldn't remember if you lived to 100, what happened, or 102 or something, how older you were two.

But this gave people a chance to rebuild with capital. They had land. And it also kind of stopped land price speculation quite a bit because this is what the land is going to be worth, etc.

Now, verse 39 of Leviticus 25 says, If one of your brother who dwells with you becomes poor and sells himself, you shall not compel him to serve as a slave, but as a hired servant, he shall be with you and shall serve you until the year of Jubilee, and depart from you with his children to his own family. You should not rule over them with rigor. And that's one of the problems with people who use the Bible to justify various forms of slavery. Yes, the Bible did authorize certain things, but you weren't supposed to be mean to people, et cetera.

There are all kinds of things you were supposed to do. Now, verse 47, If a sojourner or stranger around you becomes rich, and one of your brothers becomes poor and sells himself to him, After he's sold, he can be redeemed. And the price of his release will be according to the number of years from the year he was sold to him to the year of Jubilee.

All right. So what this is saying is, let's say somebody was an Israelite. He got poor. And by the way, people would sell themselves to become indentured servants.

And that's actually more or less how a lot of people originally came to the United States, not talking about Native Americans, when people from Europe came over here, they agreed to be servants for so many years before they came over here. So anyway, what happens is if somebody came poor, the only way I'm going to survive is if that rich guy hires me, so I'll sell myself to him.

But if you were a relative of that guy, you could go to the person who bought him and say, Look, I'll buy him back, and I only have to calculate to the year of Jubilee because you've got to free him then anyway. And that was talk about the price of redemption. if he's not redeemed in these years, then he'll be released, verse 54, in the year of Jubilee, he and his children with him. For the children of Israel are servants to me, and they are my servants who I brought out of the land of Egypt. So, we saw, again, economic resets over and over again.

So, a Jubilee was a reset of society, complete change in society, where, again, I'm not faulting families who have major wealth, the Bible talks about that you should store wealth up for your children or grandchildren, whatever. But under the Jubilee system, things would have been a bit different. A bit more equality, if I could use that term, and more equal opportunities, because everybody knows. Nowadays, it's a bit different.

People don't do the Jubilee thing, and so taking someone's land would be bizarre. But of course, governments do that anyway, but that's a whole other topic I wasn't planning on going into.

But there was a reset. And I want to read something about this Jubilee. This is from the Huntington Post. The translation Jubilee year comes from the original Hebrew. The year is called the Year of the Horn, or in Hebrew, the Year of the Yovo, which in Latin is Iobenus, which sounds kind of like Jubilee. Okay, so we now say, you know, the word jubilee means something really nice and friendly, but it was really just called the year of the horn.

But it would also be a time of jubilation. I mentioned before about the reset of society. There's various ones who've called something called the K-wave, which is also known as the conqueritive long wave cycle.

that a Russian economist figured out in the early 20th century that every 50 or 60 years there's major economic catastrophe and renewals. And so people have wondered maybe that's why, because people aren't keeping the Jubilee years, that society goes into that, and that may well be. And historians have questioned whether or not The ancient Israelites really did keep this year like they were supposed to.

But there was a warning in Isaiah. Let's go to Isaiah 30. You don't have to go there. I'm going to read two verses, 12 and 13. Isaiah 30 verse 12.

Therefore, says the Holy One of Israel, because you despise this word, in other words, you won't do everything the Bible says, and you trusted oppression and perversity and rely on them, Look, there's people who want to give up their stuff. The ancient Israeli didn't want to do that, but they were supposed to. Like a breach ready to fall, a bull's in a high wall, whose breaking comes suddenly..

. I'm sorry, let me go back there, verse 13.

Therefore this iniquity shall be to you like a breach ready to fall, a bull's in a high wall, whose breaking comes suddenly in an instant. And we see the modern descendants of Israel, which you can read about them in a free e-book we have, Lost Tribes and Prophecies, available free at CCG.

org. They despise the Word of God and accept the practices of oppression. We don't, for example, in the United States or European countries or whatever, follow the laws of debt and land distribution and release like the Bible teaches. And political leaders not only trust in perversity, they push it.

Now, the Bible shows in Revelation 20, starting in verse 1, that Satan is going to be banished for a thousand years, and this will result in a type of restoration to the earth. The Jubilee, in a more immediate physical sense, will also result in that type of restoration. And I believe these are going to happen at the same time. After Satan is bound, the Jubilee will be proclaimed.

Now, getting back to Robert Morton, he said, Now Jubilee obviously It doesn't take much imagination that the Jubilee pictured Christ's return in the beginning of the millennium. Notice, the Bible says, You shall hallow the 50th year one entire year. You shall hallow it and proclaim liberty throughout the land to all the inhabitants. It shall be a Jubilee to you. It says, It was a time growing families would get together.

It was a time when people were free from the worry of debt and the problems, difficulties like that. As I said, this picture of Jesus Christ returned to liberate this world to release people from debt, to let people return to what's rightfully theirs.

Now, people often ask, Well, why didn't the Year of Jubilee begin until the Day of Atonement? I mean, if the Feast of Tabernacles represents... I mean, if the Feast of Trumpets represents Christ coming back, and the Year of Jubilee represents the Millennium, Then why on earth did God didn't have the Jubilee begin the Feast of Trumpets?

Well, the reason is because the Year of Jubilee or Millennium can't really begin until we reach the stage in God's plan that's pictured by the Day of Atonement, especially the Day of Atonement takes place in the Year of Jubilee. That's why trumpets had to be blown that day. He wanted to take the Feast of Trumpets and the Day of Atonement to help us understand the two are tied together, and you can't separate the two. there's going to be something begun on the Feast of Trumpets that will not end or be completed until we reach the time of the Day of Atonement.

Then, of course, we know Feast of Trumpets pictures Christ returning as King of Kings and Lords of Lords to liberate this sin, sick and dying world, to bring an end to an era of oppression, to release mankind from the bodies of Satan and from the penalty of generations and generations of sin. We understand that's what Feast of Trumpets is picturing.

But Christ will begin a task on the Feast of Trumpets that will actually not be complete until the Day of Atonement, just only nine days later. Now, again, people have wondered if Christ is going to come back on the Feast of Trumpets. Why is it that God separates the Feast of Trumpets and the Day of Atonement by nine days? What's going to take place in these nine days?

Because I'm not saying Jesus Christ is actually going to return to this earth specifically on a specific Feast of Trumpets. But we do know the Feast of Trumpets pictures his return. We basically know what's going to take place on the Day of Atonement. What's going to take place in nine days in between?

Well, first of all, I don't believe that the seven trumpets that we see the angels blowing in the book of Revelation are going to be blown in the same day. And furthermore, after the seventh angel sounds the last trumpet, Then there's going to be Christians that will be on the sea of glass, and the seven plagues are going to come.

So after the seventh trumpet, we're resurrected, but the seven last plagues are still supposed to come. So let me go to Revelation 15. I ask you to go there, starting verse 1. Apostle John wrote, Then I saw another sign in heaven, Great and marvelous. Seven angels having the seven last plagues. Again, the seven trumpet orders would blow.

And I saw something like a sea of glass mingled with fire to those who had victory over the beast, over his image, over his mark, over the number of his name, standing on the sea of glass, having the harps of God. Then they sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, the song of the Lamb, saying, 'Great and marvelous are your works. Lord God Almighty, just and true are Your ways. O King of the saints, who shall not fear You, O Lord, and glorify Your name?

For You alone are holy. For all nations shall come and worship before You, for Your judgments have been manifested.

Now, chapter 16, starting at verse 1, Hear a loud voice, go pour out the bowls of wrath of God on the earth. So the first went and poured out his bowl on the earth, and followed a loathsome sore on men who had the mark of the beast and worshiped his image. Second one poured out his bowl on the sea, became blood as of a dead man, and every living creature in the sea died.

Third angel poured out his bowl on the river, and springs of water, and they became blood. Then they heard the angels of the water saying, You are righteous, O Lord, the one who is was and is to be, because you've judged these things, for they've shed the blood of your saints and prophets, and you've given them blood to drink, which they just do. They heard another from the altar, saying, Even so, Lord, almighty, true, and righteous are your judgments. Verse 8.

Then the fourth angel poured out his bowl in the sun, and power was given to him to scorch men with fire. Men were scorched with great heat, and they blasphemed the name of God, who has power over these plagues, and they did not repent and give, give, meaning God, glory. And the fifth angel poured out his bowl in the throne of the beast, and the kingdom became full of darkness, and they gnawed with their tongue because of the pain. They blasphemed the God of heaven because of the pains of their sores, and they didn't repent of their deeds.

Verse 12, Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl in the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up to the way the kings from the east, or literally from the sunrise, kings of sunrise may be prepared. I saw three unclean spirits like frogs.

coming out of the mouth of the dragon, the mouth of the beast, and the mouth of the false prophet. For they're the spirit of demons, performing signs which go out to the kings of the earth and the whole world to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty. Behold, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who watches and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked and see his shame.

And they gathered them together in the place in Hebrew called Armageddon, verse 17. Then the seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple of Heaven from the throne, saying, 'It is done. ' And there were noises and thunderings and lightnings, and there was a great earthquake, and such might a great earthquake had not occurred since men were on the earth. Preterists say the Book of Revelation has been fulfilled.

Well, this hasn't happened yet. It didn't happen by 70 AD, like some would claim.

Now the great city was divided in three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. And great Babylon was remembered before God to give her the cup of the wine and the fierceness of His wrath. Verse 20, Then every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. And great hail from heaven fell upon them, each hailstone about the weight of the talent.

And then blasphemed God because of the plague of hail, since the plague was exceedingly great. Now after those plagues, Babylon will fall. There'll be the marriage supper of the Lamb, Revelation 19. The peace and false prophet are going to be defeated, thrown in the lake of fire, Revelation 19 as well. And their supporters will be defeated. And according to Revelation 20 verses 1 through 3, apparently on the Day of Atonement, Satan will be bound, unless he's bound just before the Day of Atonement.

then liberty is going to be proclaimed. We could call that a thousand-year Jubilee when the millennial portion of the kingdom of God will come. I held up another free e-book we have on the good news of the kingdom of God.

Now I'm going to go back to Robert Morton's comments. He says, well, it's very likely, I don't know if any of you have thought of this, it's very likely that the great battle that Christ is going to fight to wreck control of this earth of Satan and his demons could very well last that entire nine-day period. I don't know the length. This is what he speculates.

He says, Satan has no intention of letting go early. And he reminds everybody that the great battle of Armageddon, which doesn't actually happen to Armageddon, will take place after Christ's return.

Jesus is going to come back and fight it. It's going to be a great last battle. How long will it last?

Well, this, again, he thought it might be nine days. But before humankind and mankind can be liberated and set free, which is what the Year of Jubilee represented, before it can be liberated, before the millennium can really begin, Satan must be taken care of along with his demons. He's got to be immobilized and imprisoned. The world doesn't realize and understand how much influence Satan's demons have had over human activity.

Morton claimed it would be impossible for the world to be at one with God so long as Satan is still around so long, as demons are there to influence mankind. Now, the Day of Atonement, we know, pictures this very event. And so, he talks about there's going to be a great increase in demonic activity. And he thinks there's going to be more than just a computerized system to control the populace.

People are going to be hunted down. They're going to be influenced by Satan. Yet after Jesus Christ returns, when he finally comes back to this earth, you're going to see dramatic increases of satanic influence until Satan is bound. I want to go back to Revelation 16: 13 again. And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.

For there is a spirit of demons performing signs which go to the kings of the earth and the whole world to gather to the battle of the great day of God Almighty. So, after Jesus' return, there will be an increase in demonic activity. It's going to have a dramatic effect on the humans that are still around at that time. Fortunately, at this time, those who were resurrected would be in God's kingdom, and so that's not going to affect us at that time.

But for the majority of people living on earth, it's going to be the most traumatic time in human history. Now, in his sermon, Robert Morton said, Psalm 2 is a psalm about the return of Jesus.

So let's go to the second psalm. And look at some of it, starting in verse 1, Psalm 2, Why do the nations rage? And the people plot a vain thing. The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel against the Lord, against His anointed. Yes, Revelation 19 is clear, the kingdoms of this world are going to fight Jesus when He comes, saying, Let's break away their bonds pieces and cast away their courts from us.

Verse 4, But he who sits in heaven shall laugh. The Lord will hold them in derision. He'll speak to them in His wrath, and distress them in his deep displeasure. Yet I have set My king on the holy hill of Zion.

Nations are going to rage if they're going to lose. So, Revelation 11 talked about We read here, Revelation 7, I mean 11. Remember, chapter 16 comes after chapter 11. Chapter 11, verse 15, Then the seventh angel sounded, and there were voices in heaven saying, 'The kings of this world have become the kings of our Lord, and that is Christ, and he shall reign forever and ever.

' We find out that the 24 elders are going to thank God because you've taken your great power and reign, but verse 18. The nations were angry, and your wrath has come, the time of the dead that they should be judged, that you should reward your servants, the prophets, and the saints, and those who fear your name, small and great. And you shall destroy those who destroy the earth. People are going to be insane with anger fighting against God.

They're going to think Jesus is an alien or the Antichrist or both or whatever. Now, Robert Morton said, The battle of Armageddon, again, it doesn't have that Armageddon. in which Satan is definitely going to be hanging out in this world. He's going to sell himself the highest price he can get. He's going to attempt to hang on, get the world to fight Christ, and be absolute rage against Him. He says it's a great battle that Christ is going to be able to break Satan's control of this world and break His grip on human minds.

Zechariah chapter 14, We know the Great Spirit's coming down. They're going to turn everything they have on Him. In fact, you know, I wonder if you've ever stopped to think about this before. It's why all those science fiction stories talk about this great invasion from outer space by super beings who have weapons, which humans don't have to offense about.

Well, I think I mentioned this before, but there's certain Roman Catholic prophecies and misunderstandings that suggest that when Jesus returned, one, He's the Antichrist, and also that He's an alien from outer space. Okay? I'm going to Revelation 17. I often read verses 12 to 13, which basically say that there should be reorganization in Europe, and the power is going to be given to the beast.

Then verse 14, These will make war with the Lamb. That's with Jesus. And the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of Lords, King of kings, and those who are with Him are called chosen and faithful. If you wonder if God's calling you, we have a free e-book also called Is God Calling You? CCOG. org.

But that's what the Bible says. Yet, there's a guy by the name of John Chrysostom. He taught against the Holy Day, he's considered to be a great one by the Greco-Roman Catholics. And if you ever seen a picture that has been called Satan's throne, it's a big black chair over St.

Peter's Skellige in the Vatican. He's one of the four pillars holding on the chair, or legs of the chair. He said, and he's considered a great scholar by them, The Roman Empire will be destroyed by Antichrist. This will happen when the Roman Empire has been divided into ten kingdoms. I guess I should have read verse 17. It says, Ten horns you saw are Revelation 17: 12, excuse me, or ten kings who had received no kingdom.

Yet, Greco-Roman Catholics have prophecies, it says, when those ten nation, ten king things happen, Antichrist destroys it. No. The Bible, the Word of God just read, verse 14 of Revelation 17 says, Jesus beats them. That's one of the reasons they're going to fight against Jesus. And there's another he's not the only one, by the way. They've got another person.

I think they call her venerable. They may even have her a saint now, but I think they call her a saint now. Anne Catherine Emmerich says, Antichrist will fight a successful battle at Megiddo, after which rulers will fear to be subject to the Antichrist, who will become lord of the world.

So, the Bible says Jesus wins what's called the Battle of Armageddon. Catholic prophecy says Antichrist does. And in commenting on this, I heard two things the old Radio Church God wrote.

It's almost impossible to see how they can believe this, but there it is. Compare this with Revelation 19: 19. That was the Good News magazine, 1961. Here's another one. already clever deceptions being spread. Notice this false prophecy revealed well over a century ago, the Antichrist will fight a successful battle at Armageddon in Palestine, after which he'll become war over the world.

That's from 1965. So, the old Radio Church of God had three or four articles warning about Catholic prophecies, at least four I can think off the top of my head.

But yes, people are going to think this is the case. You know, the Bible shows that Jesus wins this battle.

Let's go to Revelation 19, verse 11. Now, I already read from Revelation 17, verses 12 to 14 that Jesus wins, and Revelation 11, when Jesus wins, let's go to Revelation 19, verse 11. Saw heaven open, behold a white horse. He sat on and was called faithful and true in righteousness He judges and makes more. We're talking about Jesus. On His head were many crowns, clothed with white robe.

His name is called the Word of God. Note that in the Gospel of John chapter 1, that's Jesus. And the armies in heaven, clothed with fine linen, followed Him in white horses. So, Jesus is going to come down with angels, but many are going to consider Him the Antichrist.

Robert Martin said, And believe me, at this time, the demons will be in a state of panic. Christ is going to break the grip Satan has.

So now, in Isaiah, he wants to go to Isaiah 2, Robert Borton did. Let's go to Isaiah 2. Starting in verse 17. The loftiness of man shall be bowed down the haughtiness of man shall be brought low the Lord alone will be exalted in that day.

So Jesus returns, but the idols He shall utterly abolish. And actually, one of the Roman Catholic prophecies is that the Antichrist will get rid of what they call icons, which we call idols. Okay? That's a prophecy in Isaiah that that's what Jesus is going to do when He returns. They have a prophecy in their own writings, their private prophecies. That's what the Antichrist is going to do.

Anyway, Isaiah continues, They shall go into holes in rocks and caves of the earth. You can read about that. in Revelation as well, For the terror of the Lord and the glory of His majesty when He rises to shake the earth mightily.

In that day, man will cast away his idols as a servant of silver and gold that He made to worship, the golden clefts of the rocks, the crags of the rugged rocks, from the terror of the Lord, and the glory of His majesty when He arises to shake the earth mightily. Now, I just read earlier that the greatest earthquake of all time is going to happen. Isaiah ties into this. Satan's grip is going to be broken.

Now, whether or not the nine days between the Feast of Trumpets they have atonement are literal ones, we know that Revelation 19 is talking about Jesus returning. It's talking about the great battle taking place. And then I've told you before about Jesus having an angel binding Satan. Revelation 20, we read, starting in verse 1, Saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.

He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who's called the devil and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, and he cast him into the bottomless pit and shut him up and set a seal on him. So, he should deceive the nations no more until the thousand years were finished. And after those things would be released for a little while. Robert Morton said, Now, can you imagine at this point the dramatic change that's going to take place in the world when Satan's broadcasting his ability to penetrate the world of the air, whose attitude's done.

It's going to be suddenly like a bang, switched off. Now, let's go back to the Old Testament, Isaiah 61. And yes, by the way, I'm going to talk about things I went to Jubilee maybe and all that, just to let you know. The bigger point is proclaiming of liberty. Isaiah 61, starting in verse 1, The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good tidings to the poor.

The Gospel means good news, good tidings. He sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives. Remember, liberty to the captives happens on the Jubilee, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound, to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of the Lord, to comfort all who mourn. Why? I'm going to go to Revelation 20, verse 4.

John said, I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus, the word of God. They had worshiped the beast, his image and receives his mark on their forehead with their hands. They lived and reigned Christ for a thousand years, but the rest of the dead didn't live until a thousand years are over. This is the first resurrection.

Blessed and holy is he who is part of the first resurrection. Over such, the second death has no power. But they shall be priests of God and Christ and reign for a thousand years.

Liberty will be proclaimed at the start of the millennial kingdom of God. That's when a type of jubilee will come to pass. And he made a few other comments, Robert Morton, he said, the obvious thing. The Day of Atonement traditionally has been considered a time of mourning, as far as the Jews are concerned. In ancient Israel is a time of ancient mourning.

In fact, this is why we fast on the Day of Atonement, because fasting represents repentance. The Day of Atonement to the Jews is a time of natural repentance, as well as, by the way, the time between the trumpets and the atonement. And it says that, On that day there will be great mourning in Jerusalem, That's in Zechariah. This is obviously the Day of Atonement being pictured here.

You can see another dramatic thing for the Jews. They're going to finally realize, you know, they persecuted Christ for 2, 000 years, and He's really the Messiah. And then Zechariah warns us that in that day, He's going to cut the idols out of the land, clean the land of idols, just like I read in Isaiah. And Robert Morton feels that that's obviously talking about the Day of Atonement.

Perhaps it will. Perhaps it is.

So I've included some of his speculation in here. And he says, you're talking to see the binding of Satan and his demons.

And this is talking to the Day of Atonement. This really has to sum up the ritual that took place in the Day of Atonement. I want to go back to the ritual, he says, in Leviticus 16. If you've been to church for years, you've been through this many times, but I guarantee I can only show you something new. It says in Leviticus 16, there's a very elaborate ritual.

First, the priest is ceremonially cleaned of sin, sacrificed a bullock or sin offering. And this is a particular ceremony he does this for.

Then he goes to choose two goats. Verse seven, take two goats, put them for the eternal tabernacle. He cleanse himself. He does this. Jesus is pictured several places in the ceremony. He's pictured in the form of the high priest as a mediator between God and man.

He's also pictured as a sacrifice for sin. And, you know, going through what Robert Morton said, And it says, Aaron shall cast lots upon two goats, one for the Lord, the other for Azazel. One goat stood for Jesus, the sacrifice sin, the other stood for Azazel. In Hebrew Azazel means the one who sent away. You know, Satan spent years, millennia maybe, slandering God.

This is how he was able to get a third of the angels to follow him. He slandered God. It's always the way he works.

It's his votus operandi. We've seen the same thing happen within the very Church of God, you know, slander being used in an attempt to undermine confidence and faith and trust in the government of God and in the Church.

Well, that's what he said. And then let me add, in the 21st century, few true Christians properly trust the government of God in the Church. Slander and satanic influence are factors in that now, and Robert Morton said they were in the 20th century. In fact, Robert Morton, God calls Satan the devil. It simply means the slanderer. He calls him Satan, which means the adversary.

The ceremony is called disazzled, the one who's sent away the bottomless pit. I'll paraphrase it, but here he says, Well, he had to cast lots because he couldn't tell the difference very clear enough, even the high priest. the Bible pictures of Satan as the god of this world. And then he says a sin offering represents Jesus.

Now, I've gone over this before, and this is something we teach in the Continuing Church of God. I haven't heard any other churches teach. We know that Jesus' sacrifices are Passover lamb for us. People will recognize that. But we also have ceremony in the book of Leviticus where one goat gets sacrificed that represents Jesus.

You know, why? Well, what we see is this happens after the seventh trumpet has happened. This is after the church has gone up in the air to be with Jesus.

But what about everybody else? So, the sacrifice of the goat after the Feast of Trumpets as part of the Day of Atonement pretty, I believe, strongly symbolizes that God is just not calling us some in this age. I held up a book on that.

But also, that Jesus' sacrifice also applies for those who will be called in the age to come. Pretty thick book here. By the way, we do not teach universal salvation, but we do teach everyone, whether in this age or the age to come, we will receive an opportunity for salvation. By the way, that was an original Christian belief. Greco-Roman Catholic saints believed it, and it's actually partial belief still amongst the Eastern Orthodox.

Anyway, Jesus paid the penalty for all human beings. And as far as the Atonement goes, I'm going to go to Leviticus 16, just read a couple of things here. Verse 29, Be a statute for you In the seventh month and the 10th day of the month, you will afflict your souls and not do any work. Verse 31, it's the Sabbath, a solemn rest, and you shall afflict your souls, statute forever and ever. And fasting, according to James 4: 8, and help us draw closer to God, when you're supposed to draw closer to God, James 4: 8 says to draw closer to God.

As far as fasting goes, it says in Isaiah 58, you don't have to go there, verse 5, Is it a fast that I've chosen, a day for a man to afflict his soul, to bow down his head like a bulrush, spread out sackcloth and ashes? Would you call this the fast and acceptable day of the Lord? Verse 6, Is this not the fast I've chosen to lose the bonds of wickedness, to undo heavy burdens, to let the oppress go free and to break every yoke?

So we fast on the Day of Atonement, those of us who can, health-wise, and we see that said to inflict your soul, we find out in Isaiah 58 that it's got to do with fasting. It's talking about the oppressed go free, proclaiming liberty.

So this is basically part of what the Day of Atonement is all about. And so, you know, fasting is supposed to loose the bonds of wickedness to undo heavy burdens. That certainly aligns with the Jubilee Liberty Proclamations.

Now, here's what a lot of people really want to know. I hope you want to know all the rest. When will there be a Jubilee? From time to time, I receive emails, and I have for years, about people who know what a Jubilee year is or expect me to proclaim a Jubilee. One person got mad at me because I didn't claim one. I wouldn't announce one began on October 8, 2011.

He was upset. I told him I didn't think it was a Jubilee year. And if God does have a 6, 000-year plan and is divisible by 50 years, 2011 didn't make any sense.

Now, the Temple Institute supported the idea that there could have been a Jubilee starting in the year 2020. Now, I've looked at a lot of Jubilee year calculations. for when the next one is. And I will look you all in the eye as best I can. And I am not absolutely certain which are correct. One supposedly based on the reign of King Josiah seems to point to it being 2028 or 2027.

But others who point to Hezekiah, say 2050 or 2051. And I think that's too distant. There's another one from the Talmud leaves off over 200 years, it seems to point to 2038. And there's one that's related to Ezekiel chapter 40, verse 1, and that points to this year as being a Jubilee, and I don't think that is either. I think sometime in the decades of the 2030s is feasible, but there's no biblical calculation that I've seen that is so conclusive that I think that's for sure it.

Another falsely claimed that 2017 was going to be it. It was based on some medieval rabbi prophecy, and I didn't go for that. And WorldNetDaily jumped on that one back in 2015, thinking that this could be right. It was based on somebody called Judah Ben Samuel.

He said, The year 1217 was a Jubilee year, and therefore 1517 was a Jubilee year, et cetera, et cetera. And so he said that the 10th Jubilee began in 1967, which is interesting from an Israeli perspective, because that's when they had the Yom Kippur War, they won a lot more territory. And so then World Net Daily We'll see what happens in 2017. I'll leave it to your imagination.

Well, nothing like that happened. And so I denounced it before it happened, so that wasn't going to be it. Also, their editor over there promoted the false idea that there was a Schmitt the year. That's the evidence every seven years, not the every 50 ones that ran from September 25th, 2014 to 2015. And they predicted that global economic collapse was going to happen, according to people who were pushing the Shemitah year idea.

And I denounced that. And some pointed to the Jewish guy from 1517's track record to be reliable. No, that was not it. One of the most important things, though, is it wasn't possible for Jesus to return in 2017. Why? Jesus didn't return until after the Tribulation.

Let's prove that. Let's go to Matthew 24, starting in verse 39. 29, Immediately after the tribulation of those things, the sun will be darkened, the moon will not give her light, the stars will fall from heaven, the powers of heaven will be shaken.

That'll be the one-year day of the Lord period. Verse 30, Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and all the tribes and earth will mourn, and they'll see the Son of Man come in the clouds with heaven power and great glory. They're going to mourn because they don't think He's Jesus. They're not going to believe He's Jesus.

They're going to think He's an alien Antichrist or whatever. But we see that Jesus is going to send His angels the sound of a great trumpet. They'll gather together His elect from the four winds, one end unto the other. That's the seventh and last trumpet, which is associated with the Feast of Trumpets.

All right. Anyway, that's not going to happen for at least seven years from now.

Then there's another one, other claim. This came from a place called State of the Nation, the controlled demolition of everything. 2022-2023 time window was selected years ago to conduct a controlled demolition of the entire global economic system. And this will be known as the Great Reset. This is your financial collapse. And it's not only a Shemitah year, it's a year of the super Shemitah.

He means the year of Jubilee. The actual time of the Great Reset is laid bare. And I wrote, Look, I think there's going to be some violence and issues there, but no, that ain't it.

And I was right. And then he said that the Great Reset was planned for centuries, just centuries, a new world order, globalist banksters, They've operated this word millennium, began with some of the Mayan long calendar. We talked about the Shemitah year. And the Shemitah year and Jubilee cycles have been proven beyond a doubt with uncanny precision.

So again, they predicted one in 2022, and said this is a great reset, et cetera. I said it wasn't. And it was not. Again, as I said before, yeah, I think there'd be some kind of a great reset, if you want to call it that. I don't think it would start before 2030.

But anyway, and I actually suspect that the last Shamitha year actually ran from September 18, 2020 to September 6, 2021. This coincided a bit with the COVID situation, which had some disastrous consequences.

Now, before getting back to some things I think, I want to tell you something about the Roman Catholics. The Roman Catholics declared Jubilee every 25 years. December 18, 2024, the Vatican announced the Pope will open five sacred portals on Christmas Eve. The ceremony will be the first time this is done. It's set to coincide with the 2025 Jubilee year. Jubilees have been celebrated every 25 years since the Vatican adopted the tradition in 1300.

Huh? If you get it from the Bible, it would take 50 years. By the way, I'm going to hold another book. We, the Continuing Church of God, hold to the beliefs of the original Catholic Church. The Church of Rome doesn't They changed the very traditions. This book documents it by citing their people they call saints, people they accept as scholars, and using their translations of the Bible.

Anyway, so they claim to have these holy doors that were open, and I knew some Roman Catholics who were into this. Now, I didn't find out until I was working on this sermon. That Church rolls down another Jubilee plan. This time, it won't be 25 years later. Here's what they wrote. This is published in January this year.

Though the 2025 Jubilee of Hope has come to an end, the Vatican has already announced the Church will celebrate an extraordinary Jubilee in 2033, marking 2, 000 years since Christ's death, resurrection, ascension into Heaven. Jubilee of 2033 will be the year of holy redemption.

Now, I don't think Jesus was killed and resurrected in 2033. Might have been 2031, might have been 2034, might have been 2035. So anyway, getting back to what the Roman Church wrote about this, the 2033 Jubilee will offer the same opportunities for indulgences as the most recent Jubilee did.

One of the main purposes for a jubilee year is for the faithful to obtain plenary indulgences for the remissions of sins for themselves of their loved ones who passed away. An indulgence is the remission of temporal punishment due to sins whose guilt has already been forgiven, offered by the church to the merits of Jesus Christ. Huh? What is that talking about in plain English?

Basically, what the Church of Rome teaches If somehow you've been purified or baptized as a Roman Catholic, but you're not perfect, you're going to have to be purified in a place they call Purgatory. But if you get what's called a plenary indulgence, that wipes away the physical penalty.

Now, they teach, and people like St. Thomas Aquinas teach or taught that going to Purgatory is about worse pain than any pain you have on earth. They've taught that you could be in purgatory for weeks, days, months, years. I was even told, I remember a Catholic mass once, like you could be in purgatory for a million years.

Well, obviously you don't want to suffer here all this time. So if you get these indulgences, you can help your loved ones or whatever. That's the nonsense that they're pushing. Now, before going further, I'm going to hold this book up again as well as this one.

Both of these books document this. Before they came up with the doctrine of purgatory, they taught a version of the way to continue church of God teach, that there's no place called purgatory. God has a plan of salvation. You will resurrect the people of the second resurrection, the great white throne judgment. They'll have a hundred years to live. You want to call that a type of purgatory, perhaps you can, but it's not being purged or sin, it's not horrible pain, it's not anything like that.

And almost everybody goes through the process will accept Christ, whether they knew about Him or accepted Him to this age or not. They'll properly accept Jesus then, the ones who didn't now. Almost everybody will do that. This is documented in not only Scripture, but in early Church writings.

But Rome picked up Purgatory after they went away from that. Now, You know, the idea of having different years and different reasons for jubilees is a false gospel. That's a perversion of Scripture. You know, the church of Rome does not observe the Day of Atonement, and that looks like one of the reasons why they don't understand the purpose of a jubilee.

All right? Another thing I did want to mention, it was the selling of a different type of indulgence that Martin Luther was one of the reasons he complained about the Church of Rome.

But his group, he was a Protestant Reformer, although they claim Sola Scriptura, this is another free e-book, the CCOG. org, Martin Luther didn't really believe in Sola Scriptura. He didn't practice it, nor have I run into a Protestant yet who actually keeps what the original faith does based on the Bible.

Now, as far as the Jubilee, did you know that supposedly, according to somebody who calls himself a watchman, we're in one now? Yes. He says it started on October 1, 2025, at sundown with the Day of Atonement. He said, But the Jubilee itself unfolds at the beginning of the new year, maybe at one, which starts at sundown, April 17, 2026, meaning America's 250th birthday falls inside the Jubilee year.

He says, This is not a coincidence. It's a warning.

First of all, it's total nonsense what he just says. It's not the Jubilee year. And so anyway, the Bible teaches the land is going to do its Sabbath. On the final year, the Lord lasts for a year, and we've got a Jubilee year, but the idea that we're in one now, it had to do with the United States, of course, the Jubilee year ends on the Day of Atonement.

I'm doing this just over a week before the Day of Atonement. Anyway, this is nonsense. But anyway, it's speculation, and I think reasonable speculation that Jesus will establish the Kingdom of God on the next Jubilee year.

That is speculation. But what's not speculation is for me to declare, according to what Jesus taught in Matthew 24, as well as passages in the Book of Daniel, that Jesus is not going to return in 2026. The Messianic error, which considers a millennium, is not going to start in 2027.

Then some other Protestants sent me some kind of thing a while back. explaining all these reasons why they did various calculations based on Josephus and everything else, claiming that the next Jubilee year would be 2027 and 2028.

Now, I have all this in an article that I'm going to link to the sermon that you can find. You can read all this kind of stuff, and it points to 27, 2028, or 2029.

But 2028 is not going to be the start of the Great Tribulation. Some people also pointed to the guy who wrote the Harbinger, Jonathan Kahn, and he was wrong about so much with there.

Anyway, I'm not going to do all this stuff. Anyway, but there have been many claims about the Jubilee and they're wrong. And again, the most coverage tends to be what the Roman Catholic Church does with it.

But they're not going to the Biblical Jubilee or the timing. Now people want to know dates.

Let's go to Matthew 24. So I'm going to do some Jubilee speculations. The idea of wanting to know dates isn't new.

3, Now as Jesus sat in the Mount of Olives, His disciples came up to Him privately saying, 'Tell us, when will these things be? Will be the sign You're coming in the end of the age. And Jesus goes and lists a bunch of things to watch for, including that the Gospel of the Kingdom of God had to be preached to the world as a witness for the end to come. A lot of people want to focus more on dates than supporting that effort, that Jesus says, It needs to be done.

Anyway, curiosity is not a problem, but more people are interested in the dates. than they are to support the work. That's why most end-time Christians are not truly Philadelphian Christians.

Now, the Worldwide Church of God didn't know what the Sabbath or Jubilee cycle was. They said it couldn't be established with certainty. And so they just told people, you know, pick a time when you got baptized or something for figuring out third tithe and all that kind of stuff. That said, I want to speculate a little bit based on what I'm going to tell you next.

If there was a 6, 000-year plan, and that the 6, 000 years began when Adam and Eve left the Garden of Eden, because we don't know how long they were in the Garden of Eden, and if the Jubilee cycle began at that same point, and Peter in Acts 2 quoted Joel concerning the last days, and he wrote in 2 Peter 3: 8, The thousand years as the God is a day, And if, and this is one of the biggest ifs, a 1, 000-year day began during Christ's ministry, and the sixth millennium would terminate, approximately 2, 000 years after that period, the chronological constraints concerning Herod, the one called Herod the Great, and Pontius Pilate, put the outer boundary of this being the year 2035. Maybe 2036, but I think 2035 would be kind of the last one.

So that would be the last year that type of Jubilee would be, would be, could head would be 2035 or 2036. Again, that's presuming there's a 6, 000 year plan with those other parts built into it.

Now interestingly, if there is a 6, 000 year plan, you divide 6, 000 by 50 is Jubilee, that gives you 120 such cycles. Could there be a 120 Jubilee cycle plan? I don't know, but it's interestingly, the late Herman Duggar Armstrong taught that God gave, excuse me, that Noah gave a 120-year warning, he wrote, or he said, actually, I stated on a broadcast.

For 6, 000 years, God has been revealing His truth to people. He revealed to Adam in the Garden of Eden. He talked with Noah, and Noah went about 120 years as a preacher of righteousness in your Bible.

So this is 120 years according to our song. Noah is getting a morning message out. David John Hill wrote, Let's visualize the full scope of the 6, 000 years of human history. For 120 years during which his servants built the ark, Noah himself proclaimed God's warning witness. The world heard Noah The world knew God, but the world despised Noah, and the world directly protected God.

Now, if the Jubilee cycle left when Adam and Eve departed from the Garden of Eden and were put out of it, if that was the year 3966 BC, and we don't know that for sure, that could possibly point to the final Jubilee 6, 000 years later, being in 2034 or 2035, depending on whether you use inclusive or exclusive counting. Those dates are not proof. It's just an observation and a pretty speculative one.

Now for more speculation. I had been in Church of God for a long time, gave a lot of sermonettes, but until 2006, I never gave any sermons at the Feast of Tabernacles.

So I was asked to do so, and so I did so, and I'm Tigua, Guatemala, back in 2006. Now, I knew the book of Deuteronomy taught that the book of law was supposed to be read every seven years at the Feast of Tabernacles.

So let's go read that in Deuteronomy 31. At the end of every seven years, at the appointed time, year of release, at the Feast of Tabernacles, so this is after the seven-year period, remember the seven seven years plus then the Jubilee, When all Israel comes before the Lord your God in the place which he chooses, you shall read this law before all Israel in their hearing. Gather the people together, men and women and little ones, and the strangers in your gates that they may hear, you may learn to fear the Lord your God and carefully observe all the words of this law, that their children who have not known it may hear and learn and fear the Lord your God as long as you live in the land which you cross the Jordan to possess.

Now, I'd never heard this done in any church of God I'd been part of, like Worldwide Global Living or whatever, and any Feast of Tabernacles I attended. So I decided that I then would try to cover the book of the law somewhat in one of my two sermons. And so I did.

Now, I told somebody about this recently. He says, Well, but This church, they teach the book of the law. I said, No, they don't. They don't actually intentionally go through it to fulfill this.

But we in the Continuing Church of God do. Anyway, after 2006, I was wondering, how can this be repeated again?

Because I knew it needed to be done in 2013, because I was even more convinced that the Church of God should be doing this. As it turned out, the leadership of my prior organization decided it didn't have to keep promises it made to me, nor fix things that they knew It was wrong, according to there's three evangelists over there that I was working with.

So I left that church on December 28, 2012, when they sent a letter and said they don't have to do what they promised. So the next piece of tabernacles was 2013.

So what did I do that year? I gave five or six sermons to cover the entire book of Deuteronomy. And then I repeated it in the year 2020.

So that's the sequence, 2006, 2013, 2020. We plan on doing 2027 and 2034, each seven years apart.

Now, this is speculation, but it got me to wonder, perhaps God had moved this evangelist, this leader in the, actually, Living Church of God, to have me give that sermon back in 2006 as a marker the beginning of the seven-year cycle, and that the next corresponding readings comes every seven years later. And perhaps God did this to align it with His seven-year cycle and with the Jubilee cycle.

But again, that is not certain. That is outside of the Bible, but it's gotten me to wonder, perhaps that could be.

I want to go to Micah chapter 4. As I said, we're planning on covering the book of law in 2027. As a matter of fact, I've talked to various ones about this this year.

Now, during the millennium and definitely during the first year, the law is going to be taught. Micah wrote Micah 4: 1, It should come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the Lord's house shall be established in the top of the mountains and shall be exalted above the hills. and peoples shall flow to it. Many nations shall come and say, Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, the house of the God of Jacob.

We will learn His ways. We shall walk in His paths. For out of Zion the law shall go forth, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

Well, the law will be taught. We're teaching every seven years. We teach aspects of law, of course, all the time, but specifically, we do this every seven years.

Now, the Sabbath of September 23, 2034, which begins at sunset on the 22nd, is also the Day of Atonement. If 2034 is the end of God's 50-year cycle, and that's speculative, it could be that the Jubilee year began on the Sabbath of September 23rd, 24, 2034 or 20, hold on a second, I've got to think for a second. Anyway, none of this establishes 2034 or 2035's your jubilee, nor does Scripture give us enough information to dogmatically declare that it is.

The old Worldwide Church of God acknowledge that the ancient sabbatical cycle could not be established with certainty. Nevertheless, due to a 6, 000-year framework, a possible significance of 120 and 50 years, and the relationship to seven-year cycles, it should be viewed as speculation. Some may say, What kind of prophet speculates?

Well, when you don't quote the Word of God, that would be it. The Bible shows that prophets like Isaiah, Jeremiah, Daniel use the word perhaps. Psalmists, Ezekiel, Hosea, Amos, Habakkuk, Zechariah, Malachi used the word might, and Ezekiel, Amos, and Zephaniah all wrote, It may be. Even God used It may be. Joel wrote, Who knows if? Paul used the word perceive one time when he made a prediction he was in error.

Jesus Himself said He didn't know the day or the hour. And so what does He say to do? He said to watch, which is what I'm telling you all to do. The Old New Testaments are clear that prophets and others who speak the Word of God must be careful, and their wording must not add to or take away from what God has said.

You can read that a couple places in Deuteronomy, Proverbs, Jeremiah, and the last chapter of Revelation. So I try to label speculations just that. As far as how to know for sure, remember what Zephaniah wrote.

Zephaniah 2, starting in verse 1. Gather yourselves together. This gather together, O undesirable nation, before the decree is issued or the day passes like chaff, before the Lord's spirit's anger comes upon you, before the day of the Lord's anger comes upon you. Seek the Lord all you make of the earth, who have upheld justice. Seek righteousness. Seek humility.

It may be that you will be hidden the day of the Lord's anger. And remember, Jesus said, When I say to you, I say to you all watch. 37. Jesus didn't say clever calculations were the answer, but gathered together with the one who will issue the decree to flee while watching various events, that is the key. I believe the Continuing Church of God, those that's in it, are doing the best job of watching and understanding prophecies than any other group, which is part of why I believe we best represent the Philadelphia remnant of the Christian Church of God during this predominantly Laodicean age.

I also believe that one who will issue the decree will come from our midst. Now getting back to Robert Morton, he wrote, God makes atonement in two ways. He makes the atonement by the sacrifice of Christ upon our repentance, and of course our repentance is represented by our fasting. He also atones and cleanses the world by getting rid of Satan and his demons.

Brethren, that's what the Day of Atonement represents. It represents God forgiving and clearing up what can be forgiven, meaning our sinfulness, not having us suffer in a place called Purgatory. It also represents God cleansing and getting rid of that which cannot be forgiven. The Day of Atonement, Brethren, I think, has been able to show you it culminates in what Christ started in the Feast of Trumpets.

That is why God has bound or had His high priest sound a trumpet on the Day of Atonement during the Year of Jubilee, because it represented Christ completing what He started, the Feast of Trumpets. At that same time, you take an entire period of time between, the entire nine or ten days before the thing is complete.

Finally, once it's complete, the Year of Jubilee, the year in which the total liberation of all humankind can take place, you know that will be achieved on the Day of Atonement. I think he'll be able to show you why he can't begin until atonement, because humans will not be free as long as Satan is there. Once he is gone, mankind can begin a millennium, a time of peace, happiness, and prosperity, and productivity for all humankind. Now, of course, Robert Morton left off the reason why Jesus was shown to be sacrificed on atonement as well as Passover.

But Jesus is going to finish what He starts. And yes, there will be a liberation for all humankind then. Satan will be bound. Liberty will be proclaimed to the captives. This is part of the true Gospel, and that's very good news. If there's a 6, 000-year plan, we can expect liberty to be proclaimed at the start of the Millennium, after Satan is bound.

So, yes, a type of Jubilee will occur after Jesus returns and establishes the millennial kingdom of God. Remember to draw near to God, God will draw near to you, James 4: 8. There is a coming jubilee of liberation to be declared on a future Day of Atonement. This is Dr. Bob Thiel for the Continuing Church of God.
