It has been said that the Bible is one-third prophecy. All of that prophecy concerns the countries of the ancient world and what will happen to the humanity that occupies those countries. The Bible mentions several countries and cities, such as Egypt, Damascus, Syria, Jerusalem, and Edom among others. Today we know where those countries are and the people that occupy them. By knowing who and where these countries are today we are able to better understand that part of the one-third of the Bible that is yet future prophecy.
Without knowing the identity of those countries, our understanding of future Biblical events would be very limited.
Still, what about the country of Naphtali? Or the countries of Dan, Zebulon, Rueben, and Simeon? Do those countries exist today? If so, where and who are they?
We know they are the children of the patriarch Jacob/Israel. And we know the Bible has a primary interest in the children of Israel. So, where are those nations mentioned in the Bible?
Can those nations be identified today? Is it possible to understand Bible prophecy without knowing the fate of the children of Israel?
The following prophecy is yet future (although perhaps not too far in the future): Ezek 5:4 Then take some of them again and throw them into the midst of the fire, and burn them in the fire. From there a fire will go out into all the house of Israel. NKJV
What does that mean? The only way to know the meaning of that prophecy is to know who and where the children of Israel are today. And if that is known, the whole Bible opens up and several prophecies become clear.
